Felicia: We are back to the Hi Felicia podcast. I’m having deja vu or just like reminiscence of Tuesdays with Qui. She is here and we are talking all about podcasts today. Also, we have a big announcement. Miss Quianna is engaged. Woo, woo, woo. I’ve got my ring, baby. Oh my goodness. Now, before we get into all the things we’re gonna talk about today, key, you’re engaged, you’re in your bride era.
Like tell me, tell me about all the feels right now.
Quianna: Yes. Um, I am definitely feeling the feels. It is full of emotion. I am so incredibly grateful and I was totally surprised. And when I say surprised, y’all know I’ve been manifesting my cowboy. I’ve been dreaming about him for years. Literally, our conversations over the last year have been, okay, so what season are we planning?
Because, we’ll, we’ll, we’ll pass a, a spring, good weather season. Like, okay, let’s plan for a fall. But he hasn’t asked me yet. Right. So it’s like, I knew it was coming, we were chatting about it. I was totally surprised.
Felicia: You were shocked? Oh my gosh. Obviously you’ve talked, because I mean, when Keith and I had gotten engaged, we had talked about it.
I just didn’t know when it was coming. So that’s incredible. So let me just like take you guys back and like manifesting is real. Manifesting is real, and Kiana is prime example of that. And only reason is like years before Mike came into her life, her now fiance. We would have these conversations about the kind of, you know, partner she wanted even down to, not just like obviously like physical looks and things like that, but really just like the kind of man that she was calling in and it’s so important to get so clear in what you want, right.
Yes, and that’s not just in relationships, but in the career that you want to create, the money that you want to make, the home that you want to live in. It’s so important to be super, super specific. She would say like, Hey, I’m calling in my cowboy. And you did like, it is so incredible to see years pass from those original initial conversations that we had to what you actually called in and you, I mean, it’s, it’s so incredible.
Quianna: Yes, he’s here and it’s, it’s one of those moments where just like you mentioned, like yes, manifesting is real praying, writing it down, working towards those goals, and then there’s that moment of just release. Right. And I literally, I would say the last couple months prior to our engagement, I kind of was just like, all right, look.
I’m just letting it happen. Like, I try to control things, I try to do things, you know, do them my way. And then finally I was just like, okay, God. Like he’s my person. When the timing is right, let it, let it be, and, and here we are.
Felicia: Yeah. Oh gosh. When Keith and I first got back together, I fought it in the beginning too.
Like, I think it’s, it’s like when you’re so used to being super independent and you’re, you’re not sure right? You’re, and I think this is also the hard thing about this day and age is. There’s so many dating apps, there’s so many different options. And sometimes it’s easy to think like, oh my gosh, am I making the right decision?
Is there someone else out there for me? And there’s always this like pivotal moment that is like this solidification where, oh, this is your person, right? Mm-hmm. And so I can have so many moments of like that I went through with Keith in those, in those types of moments. But that’s so incredible.
Girlfriend, I’m so excited for you and excited to like, you know, see everything that’s gonna happen in the next year for you.
Quianna: Thank you. Thank you. I’m feeling so blessed and it is that crazy feeling like, oh, it’s here. Like I’m living it. It’s happening. Is one of my favorite things to say. Like, it’s coming.
It’s here now. Oh, it’s happening.
Felicia: Yeah. Yeah.
Quianna: I
Felicia: know. I know. One more thing before we get into podcasting. You know, we were talking about manifesting or praying for the thing to happen, but you also have to take action, right? You have to take action towards a thing. And with Key, and even with my best friend, Annette, you, you were on a dating app, right?
So you met Mike on a dating app. So did my friend Annette, who is now married to her said partner. And you know, it’s one thing, like being specific in what you want and putting it out in the universe and like praying about it or manifesting about it, journaling about it, whatever it may be. But then it’s a completely different, you have to also like take action towards the thing which you did as well.
Quianna: Oh yeah. I had to put myself out there and, okay, so speaking to the girlies and the business owners that are making things happen in their business, I will tell you the day that I got proposed to, literally, it was a Saturday all day that day, and I had a photo shoot that evening, and I can go in, I’m gonna share more about the proposal on my podcast.
I can’t wait, but the day of the proposal. All I had to do was a photo shoot that evening. So all day long it worked. I worked on my B with B-roll course. I revamped it. Switched platforms. I just was busy, busy, busy. I just kept going, going, going. And internally that is something for me. I have put off for a long time.
’cause I always thought, well, when I’m engaged and when this, when that, oh, having a digital course and having. We, we say passive, but we know we still have to work hard at it. But reoccurring income, all these things. Oh, when I start my family that that’s when I’ll get get to it. And so I kind of had this little premonition where I’m like, what am I waiting for?
Like let’s just go. And so I love that you mentioned that taking actions piece, because I was in my element, I was just taking action. I was moving forward. I was planting seeds. Little did I know the proposal was coming that evening and I, it truly is a testament to when you move, God moves like the, the path literally reveals itself, but you have to keep moving and take those steps forward.
Mm.
Felicia: I love that. Thank you for that reminder. So good. I know someone needed to hear that today. For sure. Yeah. Especially those that are listening to this, that are wanting to call in their partner or that are wanting to call in search of certain financial opportunities. Or who have a dream house or a dream vision on their vision board.
It’s real. It can happen, but it also takes some work from you as well. So incredible. Let’s get into today’s conversation, which I’m so excited about. So currently you and I are speaking today right now on each other’s podcast. You know, we’re gonna, we’re gonna actually record two episodes today. One for mine, one for keys.
Another great thing about podcasting is being able to podcast swap and to be on each other’s podcasts and communities and borrow each other’s communities. Essentially, I’m gonna be exposed to your community. You’re gonna be exposed to my community, which there’s probably a lot of like cross. You know, reference there with a lot of the similar people we know, but there’s a lot of people that, uh, that may not know me, who are in your community and vice versa.
And now we’re on each other’s podcasts. Being exposed to that community, that is one of the, I feel one of the most incredible things about podcasting and this platform is it is free number one, to just pitch yourself and, and for us to have these conversations. Number two, it is such incredible PR that you don’t have to pay for, right?
And so we’re gonna get into podcasting today, and I’m so excited to chat about it. You have Keana Marie Weekly. I have the Hi Felicia podcast. And it just so happens that you and I are also going to be hosting a one day event called the Podcast Portal Live, where we are helping women create launch ideate, but not only ideate and create, but launch the podcast into the world.
With a done for you cover, uh, podcast cover shoot that you’re gonna be doing with Kiana. All the tips and tricks, the foundation pieces of launching your podcast and putting it out in the world, happening August 23rd, and I am just so excited about this.
Quianna: It’s going to be so epic. So epic. And that’s one thing we were chatting about too.
Oh my gosh. All the things. But I love this because this really is a wonderful, welcoming event for anyone that maybe is considering starting a podcast. And you’re like, I know I have things to say. I know I’m making an impact. I know I offers and the programs and all the fun things and experiences I wanna share.
But I just haven’t actually launched yet, so this is for you, baby, if you’re thinking, oh goodness. Okay. I’ve launched and I have, I don’t know, eight episodes under my belt and it feels a little dusty, and I’ve kind of lost a little bit of that magic behind it. I need to get some steam behind a new launch and get things going.
Welcome. And I would even say this is a conversation for the podcasters that are doing it, that are dropping weekly episodes that are taking charge of their business and their podcast. And now it’s time to scale it to the moon. Like, let’s go.
Felicia: Yes. Oh my gosh, I’m so excited. So let’s get into, especially those, I’m just gonna pull up the Thrive Cart sales page because I really want to talk about who this is for Number one.
Especially those that you know have heavy on their heart where they really wanna share their voice. I actually made a post yesterday, and I truly believe this, where podcasting is the new form of public speaking. And, you know, for anyone who you know, has aspirations. So I, I always like to kind of go upstream.
So when I, when I think of upstream, I think of, so let’s say you have your podcast. Your podcast is downstream. It’s the thing that you want to create, right? Upstream is actually the thing that you, you really wanna create in order to have your podcast be successful. And one of the reasons why people want podcasts is to build community to increase revenue.
To really, number one is to build a community, right? Mm-hmm. Which podcasting helped, helps do. So one of the reasons why I love this is when you are building a brand. When you are building, and this brand can, can be any type of brand where you’re gonna have different products under that brand. And whenever I think of brand, and I know we love her, but I think of Joanna Gaines.
So Joanna Gaines built a community where she, not only, and a brand where she not only can create paint. A paint brand and have it sell out. She can also create a mug brand and have it sell out. If she wanted to create energy drinks, she probably could sell that too, because she is, and she could use the, you know, being a tired mom as the, the pitch, right?
Mm-hmm. Like, this is why I need energy drinks. Like she has such an established brand where she can come out with all of these different things and sell it. And so this is one of the reasons why I love podcasting is it doesn’t necessarily pigeonhole me in this one specific topic. I can talk about all of these things and really just talk about all the things that I love and the things I love learning about through my guests, and I’m continuing to build community.
It is gonna help my bottom line down the line when I’m selling product or when I’m launching a, an event or when I am, you know, pivoting and want to do a gym franchise. So I think it’s really important to remember you are building community when you are building this podcast.
Quianna: Yes. Oh my gosh. 100000%. And I love that reference.
Just like you said, on any given day, Joanna can literally sell you a house. She could sell you a rug. She could sell you a plant. Like we wanna build a strong personal brand so we can pivot, we can shift, we can grow common denominator between all of these pivots and expansions and all these new offers.
Is our voice is us. Right. So I actually would love to ask you, Felicia, I want you to share a little bit of a backstory. There may be some listeners that have just hopped on that may not know that your podcast was something else. Yes. When you started. ’cause I do, I do wanna like start here because I think there are so many business owners that are entrepreneurs and they’re perfectionists.
They have analysis paralysis, like they just get in their own way and they’re so afraid to start. Because like you mentioned, we are multifaceted, like we have multiple, multiple passions. And as entrepreneurs, let’s be real. We’re really good at a lot of things. Yeah. And I say that with like a slice of humble pie, but it’s true.
Like we, we are really good if we put our mind to anything, we can make it happen. So I would love for you to kind of take us like a little timeline jump. Back to your very first episode and kind of share like how it’s evolved.
Felicia: Yeah. Oh, this is such a good question. I’m so glad you asked this because I know that there’s someone listening right now that is really caught up in what their podcast is gonna be about, oh my gosh, I’m gonna launch this podcast, but what if I don’t wanna talk about fitness and wellness anymore?
Or they just overthink what the podcast name should be, or what the niche should be. And so I just wanna tell you. I’ve gone through a rebrand years ago, but it was initially called the Diet Dropout Podcast, and I really, it was a podcast about health and wellness and fitness. So, um, and I was very, very bold in the beginning, like one of my first five episodes, I was able to secure Kelly Leveque, who is Jessica Alba’s nutritionist.
And I remember, like, I was so scared, and I don’t even love going back to those first 10 episodes because I, I didn’t listen. I didn’t actually sit back and listen to my guests. I was always like interjecting. And whenever I look back and listen, I’m like, oh my gosh, Felicia, shut up. Stop talking. Just let your guests talk.
I was very much like fitness wellness for my first, I would say like 150 episodes. And I got this really like this. It was out of alignment about a year and a half, two years in. And rather than just starting a whole new podcast, I just rebranded the podcast that I already have. And for a lot of people, they get stuck like, oh my gosh, I’m.
Not aligned with this anymore. Like, you know, especially those that are listening right now who maybe have a podcast who’ve launched eight to nine episodes years ago and then just kind of let it go. ’cause maybe the brand changed, maybe you’re out of alignment with what you were speaking about. Like you can change it and pivot it at any time.
And I had that about a year and a half, two years in to my Diet Dropout podcast. And I rebranded to the Hi Felicia, because I wanted to open up the conversation and have it be more broad. Talk about entrepreneurship. Talk about, yes, fitness and, and wellness, which is still a big, like core value of mine, but talk about all of these other things that I really love talking about.
I know we’ve had dozens of conversations about just random things. I think there was one time around Halloween where we talked about witches, right? Yeah. Yeah. It was just, it’s really interesting and I just, I love learning and I love. I’m such a curious person that podcasting for me, ’cause I’m very much more of a talker than I am a writer has allowed me to do that.
But pivoting was something that I did and I highly recommend those that who are stuck in certain niches or stuck in certain, you know, avenues that it’s okay to pivot. It’s okay to change the name of your podcast. You don’t have to start a whole new podcast to do it.
Quianna: I love this so much. So please tell me, did you have any fears about this transition or this pivot?
Were you, like, was there a moment where you thought, oh my gosh, if I completely change the diet dropout thing, like, are am I gonna lose listeners? Am I like, what was going through your head when you finally realized, oh no, this like needs to happen?
Felicia: Yeah, that’s such a great question and I think we often get, we, we, we start to.
Become a little fearful and it first starts in social media. So I don’t know if you’ve ever done this Kiana, but like afraid to talk about other things. Other than the thing that you’re known for, right? Mm-hmm. So like for me, I remember I was so tired of talking about macros and weight loss and fat loss, and I wanted to open up the conversation more into this personal development talk of like really stepping into your power and stepping into the woman that you wanna be and creating the financial freedom that you really wanna create.
A lot of mindset, a lot of personal development, and I was, I know that that really goes hand in hand with fitness for a lot of people, but I was terrified to talk about it. I was terrified to talk about money. Terrified to talk about multiple streams of income because I was so known for this thing.
I had to first test it out with my social media before I started actually like pivoting my podcast. Mm-hmm. And for a lot of us, we just have to jump into the deep end because I know for me, I would dabble in the personal development and then when I didn’t see the return that I wanted or the validation that I wanted, or the likes that I thought that I.
Was going to get, or whatever it may be, right? The external validations that really don’t mean anything. I would go back to the thing that I was known for that I could get validation for. So I would, I, I just wanna remind people that in order to step into who you need to be and who you want the world to see you as.
You have to show up as that person now because if you keep going back to what’s safe and to what you’re known for, and Lori Harder does this, so great because we were also both in fitness and wellness. If anyone knows Lori Harder, she wrote a book called The Tribe Called Called Bliss. She has a product now called G Glowy.
She would always go back to that thing that she was known for, right? And so if she would’ve continued to do that, she wouldn’t be the woman that she is now, like the things that she’s launched and the events and the books that she’s written. So we have to like jump into the deep end and really step into that person that you really wanna be and be known for.
And that’s how we show up as the expert. That’s how we show up as the authority figure in that particular market. If we don’t, we’re just gonna continue to like play in the imposter syndrome field and like really just be stuck and be fearful. And so I just had to jump into the deep end and do it.
Quianna: Shame for you.
And I’m so happy that you took that risk. You started sharing some of the behind the scenes, you started sharing just your thoughts. I love your, I would call them like your car rants. And it’s just so fun because you really are testing and growing and expanding. I do wanna share too, that I think for anyone listening that is ready to start, a podcast hasn’t started.
Or maybe you are in the thick of it and you’ve already launched and you’re kind of like the train is in motion and you’re dropping some episodes. I wanna give you so much love and validation that my business has also grown and expanded and it’s. It’s come through talking things out on the podcast. My gosh.
It’s come through learning from my guest and being in rooms. Like there’s no better conversation starter than saying, oh, you have a podcast too. Yeah. Like legit, like so many doors open for you. Okay.
Felicia: I have a question for you. So, well, number one, how many, how many podcast episodes have you dropped? Number two, based on that, knowing that, you know, you, you probably over, over well over a hundred now, but what has been the biggest for you?
Like, I guess, realization in having your podcast where you look back now, so grateful that you started it.
Quianna: Okay, so by the time this airs, I would’ve already dropped 200 episodes. So I have been going over three years, dropping every single Monday. Ugh. It’s that and alone is just an accomplishment for me. I know this is a long game process, right?
This is not a, let’s launch a couple episodes and make a million dollars. Um, not many of us don’t have that luxury. I would say one of the best things about developing this podcast is I literally have a vault of conversations, and the way I set up my podcast is they are literally coaching calls like they are free juicy coaching calls.
Whether I am, whether it’s a solo episode for me and I’m sharing, or it’s having a guest on like a business bestie. Another industry leader. Even my own mentors. I’ve, like you said, like I’ve had some big names and I’m just, I’m just so grateful for the connections that I’ve had. But here’s why this is great.
I have this vault, I have this library, this catalog, so I can repurpose old episodes. Drop Pinterest pins to it. I can let it breathe without feeling like I constantly have to create new content.
Felicia: That’s incredible. It’s like a content machine, essentially. Yes. Like right now we’re recording this conversation.
There’s probably, you know, a handful of soundbites that you and I can pull from and use on our social media, um, use on YouTube. Like you mentioned, Pinterest, which is another untapped market that I haven’t got into yet, but I’m sure you have so much knowledge about. And the one thing about Kiana and I, and this is one of the reasons why I think this workshop is gonna be so pivotal for someone who, that woman who’s in the room who is going to be learning from us is not only have we had podcasts for years and have stayed consistent, but we continue to educate ourselves around the podcast space.
And this is something that Kiana has been doing these last few years where she has a wealth. Of knowledge around monetization, around sponsors, around strategy, around podcast swapping, around being in the room with these women who are also podcasters, and how can you collaborate together? Like there are so many different facets to podcasting that most don’t even think about because they think, okay, I’m just hosting this podcast.
I’m having a conversation and I’m launching it, and then I’m gonna promote it on my social media. It goes so much deeper than that, and I know that you have so much knowledge around that based on the rooms that you’ve been in.
Quianna: Oh my gosh, 100000%. The last retreat I got, um, I actually captured all the content and all the photography B-roll behind the scenes video stuff for it.
And I made a goal for myself that I will turn my current podcast into a six figure plus. Like annual revenue and it’s, it’s not there yet. Full transparency. I’m working it. That’s my goal. Like this is completely a possibility to fuel your next biggest income goals. Like I said, I don’t wanna make some facade that, you know, this does take work, but there are so many strategies that if you really do wanna go full force and have this be a huge welcome mat, like a rocket ship under your butt for.
Your own sales and your own business and your personal brand. Ooh, you have got to come to our podcast live portal. Oh, I’m so excited.
Felicia: Oh
Quianna: my gosh. So
Felicia: good. Okay, so if you’re ready to launch a, a podcast, if you’ve been living in your notes app or your voice memos and your heart, you’re like heavy on your heart where you know you wanna do this, join us for the podcast portal live.
It’s a one day in person all inclusive workshop designed to get your podcast created, launched, and out into the world. Okay, so, and I also wanna mention that this is not just a workshop. This is actually like a launchpad for you. A launchpad for, for you to share your voice, for you to share your story.
And these are gonna create opportunities for public speaking. This is gonna create opportunities for you to share on your social media. And you’re gonna be in a room full of women who are all. Full of fire and wanting to share their voices as well. Especially, it’s super important to share female voices, right?
So you’re gonna walk away with a clear and aligned podcast concept. You’re gonna have your show name, your description, uh, your format fully developed. And when I mentioned format, it really. A lot of times, this is where a lot of women, a lot of people get stuck, Kiana, and why We some, sometimes I think, what is it, 65, 70% of podcasts don’t make it past episode eight, and it’s because they haven’t really created the format of what they want their podcasts to be.
And when I say format, it could be like year long. It could be seasons. Um, really staying consistent and telling yourself, I’m gonna drop one a week, or I’m gonna drop two a month, and like staying consistent with that and being proactive about what your podcast is gonna look like. You’re also gonna have your podcast cover our shot professionally by Ms.
Quianna here on site that day. We’re gonna get into your podcast intro, what outro scripts look like, what music looks like. These are all things to start thinking about that we can kind of get into the weeds about. But I’m here to tell you that it’s so much more simpler than you think. Um, the tech your tools, templates on how to launch.
We’re also gonna teach you how to, um, create your own live event. So Ian and I are actually hosting a live podcast that evening, which you’re also invited to. You can, um, there’s, um, a chance for you to purchase a ticket. Um, how to monetize your launch and growth strategy, which Kiana has a ton of information about.
And she’s gonna be teaching a specific section all on that. And it’s gonna be high vibe, it’s gonna be really all about how we are gonna share your voice and share your story with the world. So we’re so excited.
Quianna: I can’t wait. Oh my goodness. So how do we buy a ticket right now? If you, okay.
Felicia: How you buy a ticket right now is go to show notes right now.
There’s gonna be a link there to grab your spot. Now, space is limited because we wanna make sure that we can give the attention to each woman in the room, especially when it comes to actually shooting your cover art. We’re gonna keep it limited to 20 ladies. So if this is you, if this is like something that you know you wanna be in, go to the show notes or just go to our Instagrams.
I have them in the show notes right now. Head on over there. You can shoot us a message or you can just click the link in the show notes and grab your spot. Then we’re also, if you are listening to this podcast and you grab your spot, you can actually, we would love to offer you a free live ticket for the event that night.
And this is only for those that are listening to the podcast. Okay? So we did a presale. People had a chance to do that. Now, if you are listening to this podcast right now, you have a chance to grab your ticket and then you get that free, uh, live event ticket for that evening. And we are just so excited.
Quianna: Yay. Oh my gosh. I cannot wait. I am so excited. It’ll be in Gilbert, Arizona. So if you are listening across the country, girl, get your booty on a plane. Come see us. It’s gonna be so fun.
Felicia: August 23rd, Saturday, August 23rd, a few weeks after the Powerhouse Women event. So it’s a perfect time for you. And I love the fall because I feel like a lot of people.
After the summertime are really getting into that fall mood and like they’re ready to create and launch their thing. So we are just so excited.
Quianna: Yes. Oh my gosh. It’s gonna be so much fun. And you can literally walk away with guests on your podcast. So if you’re worried thinking, all right, I think I have the strategy, but now I need to find some boss babes that will be willing to get on and, and we all know, like pitching ourself is scary.
We’re gonna go over that literally through the day. But you’re gonna walk away with podcast besties. And I’m just so, so excited for you.
Felicia: Yay. All right. So if you know you wanna be in the room, head over to the show notes. If you enjoyed this episode, please rate and review and I will see you next week.
Hope to see you there. Bye bye, Felicia.
Quianna: Wow. I loved this chat and I am so, so happy you were here. Like were all just grabbing a coffee together. Tell me, babe, how did this make you feel? Are you convinced to start your own podcast? Do you have more questions? Did the idea of going on a podcast tour, not having your own podcast, but pitching yourself to be a guest pique your interest?
If any of those light bulb moments started popping off, let’s chat. My dms are always open for your questions, and we would love for you to join our podcast live event coming up in August. Head to the show notes or pop over to the links in my Instagram bio to learn more and grab your ticket. This is an event you don’t wanna miss.
Also, if you’re bursting with ideas and interested in learning more, but just don’t have the bandwidth or tech time to figure it all out, how to edit, get your shows across all the platforms and need help with the editing, producing, and marketing. That’s what my editing team is for. Check out gaffin creative.com to meet Hailey, my producer and podcasting mentor without her and her team.
Shout out to Megan, my incredible editor. None of this would be possible. I literally just organized the guest, create a format for questions and how I want the con, the conversation to kind of roll out. I map out my offers so they align with what I’m promoting and share across the board, and they take care of the rest.
When I say they take care of it, I mean they take care of it. It’s seriously a dream, so please don’t let the tech or extra tedious work scare you away. Trust me, Babe if I can do it. So can you. All right, my love.
Thank you so much for joining our Candid Talk today. Join us next week to share more about amplifying your voice and turning your podcast into a content engine that keeps working for you and reaching new audiences for years to come.
In case nobody told you today, you are powerful. You deserve all of this success and more. Your heart is so big and your mission is so loud, it’s actually a disservice to our faith and humankind. If you keep playing small, it’s time to go big. Babe. Plug in that microphone and share your voice. Hope you have an incredible and productive week.
I love you forever. Can’t wait to chat soon, Okay. Love you. Bye. That’s a wrap on another episode of Quianna Marie Weekly. Thank you so much for your listenership and support. You can find the resources and show notes for this episode and more at quiannamarie.com/podcast. I’d be honored if you’d show your support by leaving a review and rating on your favorite podcast app.
Until next time, keep on dancing!
