Quianna: Life is meant to be lived to the fullest and small businesses are designed to thrive, but it’s difficult to reach those goals when your body is inflamed and in pain. We hear the word inflammation bounced around on social media and often mentioned in ads or infomercials on TV, but what is inflammation?
Can there be a link to our physical wellness, mindset, and business success? I’m so stoked to continue this mindset series to bring more awareness to our physical bodies and learn more about what our body is trying to tell us. In last week’s episode, we got to learn more about how our bodies store information physically or really more energetically and how we hold on to memories.
Our bodies are so powerful. Is your body trying to relay messages to you? Today, I have the honor of interviewing one of my business besties, a neighbor, a dear friend, and deep soul, Angelica Parrish. Angelica has years of her own research and experiences dealing with inflammation and chronic pain. With a variety of certificates and years of education, Angelica specializes in inflammation with an understanding of flare ups, the signs to look for, and how to keep inflammation at bay.
You’ll quickly learn from this interview that inflammation is really just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to understanding our bodies, listening and truly feeling the cues that our nervous system and cells are trying to tell us. What I love most about Angelica is that she is a forever learner.
She’s highly educated and has a heart of gold to help others. Her journey to living a healthy and strong lifestyle hasn’t been easy, but she’s determined to help make these conversations grow with awareness for more of us to live our lives to the fullest. Today, we’ll be chatting more about root causes, managing stress, becoming an advocate for your health, understanding more about gut health, and shifting our mindset to live healthier and stronger lives with easy swaps and healthier choices.
Running a business is hard. It’s full of stress, difficult decisions, highs and lows. Prioritizing our mindset and health really does impact our business, relationships, and well being. I’m so excited to have you join this chat with Angie, one of my good friends. It’s going to feel like a coffee date with your bestie, packed with education about inflammation and mindset shifts for better health.

Yes, I have been dying to get you on the podcast for literally years. You have been one of my dream guests that I wanted to chat with and with scheduling and figuring all the things out.
You are the perfect candidate to chat about some mindset shifts and health and wellness and really putting our bodies first. I’m so excited for this chat.
Angelika: Yes, I just can’t wait. Let’s dive in for sure.
Quianna: Let’s dive in. So the first question I have, because I love a good definition and a good glossary check.
What is inflammation? Could we start there?
Angelika: Yes. I feel like inflammation is this trendy term that’s been going around so much lately. I feel like when every time I open up my phone, inflammation, how to avoid it, all of these things, right? But inflammation is actually meant to be a good thing. It’s our body’s way of protecting itself, right?
to, you know, get more blood to certain areas of injury. It’s just the chronic inflammation that we have to watch out for. And that’s probably what we’re more seeing about online and all of that. So that’s a whole different story, but inflammation at its source is a good thing. That’s your body’s way of protecting itself and just letting the brain, the body, everything connected, know exactly what’s going on.
Quianna: Interesting. I’ve never heard that perspective because you’re right. We are bombarded with inflammation everywhere. We see online. It’s right. How to prevent it, how to fix it. And oh, my gosh, I can’t wait to like, just unwrap all this with you. So like, so what are some causes of inflammation?
Angelika: So causes of inflammation, they can be chronic or acute.
Acute is, you know, you have a fever, your body raises the temperature, right? Raises inflammation in your body to get through that bacteria, that virus, whatever you’ve got going on. It serves a purpose. If you sprain your ankle, you know, it swells up, you know, that is definitely your body sending it. extra blood to that area to kind of just flush out all of the broken down tissue.
It’s a good thing. But then we also have chronic, and chronic can be caused by things such as like, if you have a sensitivity to a food, right? Then your body starts to have a reaction to it. You might have bloating or stomach upset. You might start to feel achy in your joints, right? Might experience a brain fog, and this is a chronic inflammation, and there are many different factors of it.
Environmental. internal, there’s stressors in your life mindset, you know, just like being constantly bombarded with all the things we have to do every single day, day in, day out. And we’re just stressing our bodies out. So that also can cause like chronic inflammation.
Quianna: So interesting. And I love this so much because you’re right, it really is our body’s way of protecting us.
There’s different ways that we can experience inflammation. What would you say is the best way to, to take the steps to start curing that? So let’s say maybe you are feeling some high stress or you do have this chronic pain. Where do we begin with even learning more about it? And Adjusting our lifestyles to, to cope with it and heal it.
Angelika: Okay, so there are so many different ways we can go with this, right? Because inflammation, you know, isn’t just this one thing with this one irritant in our body that caused it, right? There are a lot of factors. There are factors such as your lifestyle, right? So paying attention to the foods that you’re putting into your body, right?
Coming from a place of love. How am I nourishing my body as opposed to hating my body and punishing my body? Because that causes additional mind stress, right? If you’re just sitting there, just Pouring over everything that you need to do and obsessing over it, that’s not good for us either. Your job, you know, is it a high stress job?
Is that, you know, also an issue? And then also, are we moving our body? Are we saying too sedentary? All these things. So if you’re looking to cure it, I don’t know that we ever get to a point of curing it, but what we can do is look at our life as a wheel. And each piece of the pie is a different aspect of our life.
So if we look at our finances, our spirituality, our relationships, our nutrition, our physical activity, our creativity, we can look at that and we can see, okay, if in the center is zero, you’re doing absolutely nothing in that area. And the outside of the circle is, wow, you are really fulfilled in that area.
Where do we fall on those? And I feel like I love this exercise because it is a guide. It is a blueprint on what action steps I need to take because clearly some areas of my life are lacking and I haven’t touched in a long time. If we can try to make our life a little bit more balanced all the way around, all the way around, not just focusing on clean eating, not just focusing on exercising, but focusing on the whole picture, then we’re going to see the inflammation come down.
Right? Because also we’re going to feel more fulfilled. You know, there have been times in my life where I’ve not done anything creative and I am such a creative person. I love. Making jewelry or just dabbling and whatever I can get my hands on and the moment that I realize that and I go and I do that, uh, it is just so fulfilling and it just is medicine for the soul in a way, right?
So, yes, there are technical things that we can do. We can target what are you eating? We can do a GI mapping test to see what is going on in your gut. Because there’s this balance right where we if we’ve had antibiotics, we’ve wiped out bacteria, some good bacteria, some bad. Now we’ve got an overload of something, but maybe not enough of another.
That’s a very unique. We’re still learning so much about the microbiome and what it is for each person. So it’s very unique to an individual. You could find parasites in your gut. Find strep in your gut. You could see inflammatory markers, right? That’s huge. If I like look at somebody’s results and I’m seeing huge inflammatory markers and we know the body is creating this environment where it’s just really inflamed and we need to figure out where it is and that while we might see the high inflammatory markers, we might see the answer right there with it.
So it’s just getting that information, but then also remembering as a whole. not to neglect the mind as well as the body.
Quianna: Oh my gosh, this is so powerful. And I love that exercise so much. I’ve done that before. And this is actually reminding me to do it again, where you go through the pie chart, right? And you go through all aspects of your life.
We talk about balance. And how it’s just impossible to achieve balance, but if we’re taking micro baby steps to fulfill each of those pieces of the wheel every day, right? Like every day we are taking the initiative to nourish our bodies with what we’re bringing in and nourish our minds with the education and the connections and the relationships that we’re forming, like all of this is tied together.
And I feel like this is such an important conversation to have, especially as it aligns with business, because I think, as you know, being a really busy mom. Right. Doing all of the things like it can give you really hard to put ourselves first and when it’s just like things can spiral out of control quickly and our health suffers.
And a lot of it really is the mindset piece of it, right? Like when we can pull apart the whole, like take a big picture, snapshot of the mind, body, soul, spirit, all the things like. We forget that they’re all connected like they are all connected and I love that you mentioned I know recently on one of our hot girl walks We talked about a story about somebody that you were counseling or something that came up where they had to completely change their job Like they literally had to quit their job Because it was too stressful and don’t get me wrong like babe.
We got to pay the bills, but at what expense Is that stress having that toll on your body? Like it is just insane.
Angelika: Yes, definitely. I mean, there are many cases where, I mean, you always hear just in, if somebody has a heart attack, you know, and they’re like, Oh, they need to lower, like if somebody has high blood pressure, they need to lower their stress.
Well, what does that even look like? Because most people, they’re like, There’s a line that they’re not going to cross or like, okay, well, I will try to make everything else then, but I got to keep my job, you know, but their job is probably the one thing that’s causing them all these health issues. You have to find that balance and you’re never gonna, it’s never going to be perfect, right?
But knowledge is power and if I’m knowing that I’m putting some things on the back burner, at least I know it and I can start taking little steps to like address it, right? And I feel like that’s what you need to do. And, and really sometimes you do have to face the cold hard truth of like, okay, is this job that I have maintainable?
Long term. Am I going to, what am I giving up to have this job? You know, what pieces of that pie am I just leaving behind and not addressing, right? Because that’s just so not good for you. What relationships am I not pouring into because I have this soul sucking job that is just taking everything. I definitely think that it’s understated in our communities about just how impactful it is.
Stress is on your physical health.
Quianna: No, I love this so much. I’m like, yes, tell me more. Tell me more. Oh my gosh. Well, let’s say that we’re aware. Okay. We are aware of this inflammation. We’re aware. We’re starting to be more aware of our lifestyle and whether that’s, you know, our work, our relationships, our home life, and even the nutrition and the meals that we’re deciding to kind of like shove in our face on the run, right?
Like we’re, we’re being a little bit more aware of this. I’d love to know what are some things that many of us get wrong or maybe even some mistakes often made when getting started with a healthier lifestyle. So let’s say we’ve, we’ve decided, okay, it’s time to make a change. What do a lot of us get wrong when it comes to being healthier?
Angelika: Oh, well, if you are taking the steps you have acknowledged, like, I need to live a healthier lifestyle, like, first of all, great job, because that’s the first step. Right. And, and that is huge. I would say the first, I would say there’s this all or nothing approach that a lot of people have. And I know I’ve been guilty of it, you know, like you learn about all the different things that are on your labels and suddenly you want to go to your pantry and throw everything out and it’s like, okay, hold on.
It’s okay. What we can do is what I like to call the swap. You know, and so finish what you have, swap it out with something better once it’s done, right? It’s a way more financially friendly way of approaching things rather than just throwing away hundreds worth of food, right? And having grace with yourself.
You decided that you want to live a healthier lifestyle. It doesn’t mean that all those bad habits just suddenly are gone. You know, you’re gonna slip up. That’s okay. Just keep moving forward. Any forward motion is still progress. This is a lifelong journey. This isn’t a, there’s no destination at the end that you get to where you’re like, I have achieved optimal health.
I am perfect. No, right? We’re always, it’s a, it’s not a destination. It’s a journey. Enjoy the journey. Embrace the journey. So other things that you can do, like I said, to swapping out some things, choosing things like, you know, you’re never going to have to look at the label on an avocado. The ingredient is avocado.
So go ahead, girl, eat that. You know what I mean? So that’s one of the things, just eating whole foods that nourish your body and just thinking from the perspective, instead of being like. Wow, I’ve done it all wrong. I need to change everything. Just go hard at the gym. No pain, no gain.
Like, let’s just throw all of that hustle culture. Let’s throw it out and in regards to our health, right? Because I don’t believe that that’s going to do your body any good. Let’s look at it as Every bite that I take is either upgrading my biology or it’s downgrading it. And, and when you look at it from that way, and also from a place of love, if you love your body, you want to upgrade its biology.
So we’re going to do that, right? But always looking, I love to look at it as the approach of what I can, what can I add in? Everyone’s always about take away this, take away that, take away this, take away that. But what could you add in that your body would love? If you haven’t been eating enough fruits and veggies.
Do it. Let’s stop talking about what we need to take away because honestly, if you fill your body up with whole foods and you’re loving it, that’s what you don’t have as much hunger for the junk because you could eat a bag of chips. That’s like, takes no time. Let’s be real. It’s really good. But if you think about it, it took like five or six potatoes to make that.
Do you honestly think that you could sit down and eat six whole baked potatoes? Nobody could. I mean, I couldn’t. Maybe like a food eating champion could, I guess, but most average person could not, you know, so I could be like, eat as many potatoes as you want to, because in reality, you’re going to be eating one and a half potatoes at most.
You know what I mean? So, whereas if you eat a whole bag of potato chips, that’s six. You know what I mean? So just add in things that your body will love. More sunshine, more connection with nature, right? More mindful eating. Think about as you’re eating what you’re eating. You know, we always eat on the go, but studies are showing that if you can mindfully eat and just think about the smells, the textures, the taste as you’re doing it, put your phone down, right?
And just enjoy the meal and what it’s going to do for your body. That has huge positive benefits on our bodies.
Quianna: I love that. And I love that you mentioned the gain, right? Like what can we add to our routine? What can we add? And it’s so funny because I’m trying to really tap into my intuition here. And it’s just so crazy that sometimes I’ll get these thoughts where I’m like, I’m really craving a blueberry.
Like, I don’t know why, but I just, I need a blueberry. And right. You don’t, you don’t realize like how much our body will actually talk to us if you listen, right. And you come to realize, Oh shoot. I probably was. You know, I had a deficiency in this, whatever, like, I don’t remember the words, but like, you know, like I was missing this type of nutrients and I need this in my body.
And it’s just important to pause and, and listen and truly just take care of ourselves. I love that so much.
Angelika: Yeah. And actually pausing, right. Isn’t that a huge thing? We’re always go, go, go. And I feel like so many of us are just disconnected from our bodies. And so the more that you can take those times to pause and just really connect with your body, then the more your body will cue you and tell you exactly what it needs.
But a lot of times we’re just going, going, going, shoving food in our mouth as we head out the door. You know, like, here, let me give you some food. That’s all you get today. I’m not going to pause and reflect on it.
Quianna: I have another question for you. I’m so excited. So as a healer and a coach. What advice would you have for someone that may not even realize the stress around them is impacting their health?
What are some things that we can change and, you know, add or take off our plate to prioritize our health? Let’s start there.
Angelika: I think I, I mentioned, but really just trying to connect with your body and being more mindful about everything that you’re doing. Being present where you are, right? We’re so often our minds are going to the next thing.
Like, I’ve got to get this done today. This done today, you know, even while we’re eating, we’re thinking, we’re what am I doing? As soon as I finish this last bite, you know, I’ve got, I’ve got to go. Right. And I think that you can connect to your body, just pause and really listen. That’s step number one.
Going outside, connecting with nature, grounding is so huge. If you can do that, you can even ground technically on cement, you know, like it doesn’t have to be like lush grass, you know what I mean? Just something. That is really helpful and it’s just a step in the right direction in regards to just being more mindful about your life and you can do all the things you can eat clean.
You can work out, you can move your body, that’s all great and good and just make sure that you come back to center and you are connecting with yourself because I feel like you can do all of these things and not see results Because we’re just so disconnected from our bodies right now.
Quianna: I agree. I agree. And it’s easy to get in that routine. It’s easy to toss, right? Just grab something on the go and not take the time to connect. It’s so important.
Angelika: I feel like that’s such a huge Thing in our culture is we just I in them when I was going through school, you know, just being made aware and and thinking, Oh, gosh, this is so right.
I don’t remember the last time I ate food without. Maybe checking my phone periodically or thinking about my day and just kind of everything’s going like sometimes it’s hard to sleep when your brain just won’t shut off and it could be good things like maybe you have great ideas that are popping in, but like also like you need to sleep.
So, you know, calming down the mind and everything like that. Just It’s also interconnected, and you can’t have one without the other, it feels like.
Quianna: Oh my gosh, so what would you say to someone that feels like, okay, I’m here, I’m doing the work, I’m eating whole nutritious foods, I’m exercising, I’m living a healthy lifestyle, I’m making better choices, not just because, not because I need to, because like it actually feels good.
But maybe they’re not losing the weight or the inflammation isn’t coming down and they’re not feeling stronger. What’s the missing piece there?
Angelika: Okay, so first thing I would do is the circle of life with them, right? Do that exercise because it’s just so beneficial. And you can do that quarterly, you know, quarterly or twice a year because it’s always changing.
It’s always shifting and evolving. You know, it’s always going to be, you’re never going to have that perfect circle. Perfect circle does not exist, right? But we would start with that because that’s just a good blueprint of knowing like, Hey, where are we at in life? Okay. So, because I do feel like that mindset part of it and, and, and hitting all those areas that you’ve been putting on the back burner for a long time is just so crucial.
Such a huge, huge, huge part. And I will never. Fight me on it. I will never like I will to the death. I will fight on that. Like you have to just hit all the areas of your life. All right. So you can be doing the nutrition, the exercising, all the things. And then you’re still not seeing results. Then I would really recommend doing a GI mapping because that is, you know, we have the gut brain connection, right?
They call the gut the second brain. 70 percent of your immune system is housed in your gut, your serotonin is created in your gut, serotonin is then converted into melatonin. So if you’re not sleeping, we’re still going to look at the gut, right? Because it’s all so interconnected. If you have a leaky gut, That means that, you know, you haven’t had enough bacteria, good bacteria, it starts to eat the lining of your gut, and then it allows larger particles of food to come through, and then you’re having all these sensitivities to different foods.
So we could, people do, you know, the food sensitivity test, all that tells me is that you’ve got a leaky gut, and we’ve got it. Fix that lining so that all of those food sensitivities will then go away because you’re not, you’re no longer having these food particles go through that barrier and into your bloodstream.
So there’s no need for you to have that huge immune response then. So GI mapping test is super crucial. A kit is just sent to you. You send it in your stool sample. It’s very, very quick and easy. Everybody poops and then you just send it off and then the results come to me and we can chat about what’s going on in your gut because everybody’s got is so drastically different.
And so, yeah, it’s just if you want a clear picture of your health of your inflammation markers. I cannot stress enough, like, just start at the gut, and then everything else, like, I, I’m not going to recommend supplements, I’m not going to recommend any of this stuff before you have your GI mapping, because I don’t want you to waste any money.
I’m sure if you’ve never taken a probiotic, a probiotic is, you know, it’s not going to not do your body good, you’re going to find out exactly which bacteria strains, there are hundreds and hundreds and hundreds that we have, There are some that are going extinct and new ones that are being introduced that we’re still learning about every day.
So if you, you specifically have been on antibiotics or this or that, there are certain strains of bacteria that you are probably lacking compared to the person next to you. So it’s just, it’s also unique and catered to the bio individual, which is so important.
Quianna: That is so crazy. So I have a question and it’s probably pretty nasty, but this is just the way my brain works.
I’m like, so curious. Let’s say, for example, if you are someone, let’s just say, that every time you go to the bathroom, it looks different. Like, it, like, and, and that’s, like, the, right, like, obviously, it’s dependent on our nutrition and our food and all that. So, like, what would you say would be, like, the best type of Like poop to send in.
I’m so curious, you
Angelika: know, it really doesn’t matter. You can have every kind of different poop because honestly, when you do it, you kind of like, there’s like a little bitty spoon. Okay. Yeah. Okay. Cute. Um, so demure, so mindful. Um, and you scoop different areas of your stool. Okay. So you’re not just taking like one, you’re kind of like, Okay.
Over here, over here, over here, a little bit of in every section and then it has like a solution in there. So you, um, it tells you where to fill it up too. And then you’re like shaking it and making sure all of the solution gets mixed with the stool so that it preserves it. But yeah, so it doesn’t really matter what your stool looks like.
I mean, I would say if you. We’re recently sick or you are currently sick, you have a cold, I would wait until you’re back to your normal self because otherwise we will see, you know, we’re going to see a higher inflammation marker when you’ve just come off of being sick, obvious, for obvious reasons, right?
So it is a good idea if you Can wait until you’re kind of back to normal for a few weeks and then you go ahead and do that and send it in.
Quianna: Oh my gosh, this is so helpful. Yeah, I’m so curious because I do. I feel like everybody needs to do this. Everybody needs to like send their poop in and and get this this mapping done and and that’s something that I’ve been struggling with personally for a while.
It’s like Okay, what’s happening here? Like, I personally feel inflamed. Like, I feel like I’m getting my steps in. I’m choosing whole foods. Mike and I very rarely go to restaurants. Like, we’re cooking whole nutritious foods, you know? Like, we have good meals that we’re making. There’s always a protein, right?
We’re trying to get our veggies in. And sometimes I just feel like what’s happening, right? And so that’s a great way to take a literally a look under the microscope and to see what exactly we can pinpoint. I love that so much.
Angelika: I would say GI mapping. And then other thing that I’ve become really, really passionate about is seed oils, and they’re in everything like I have really clean.
Get really clean food and those little suckers will be snuck into those and you know it’s all these healthy ingredients and then it’s like sunflower oil. I’m like, you know, I think I’m just gonna have to be Little House on the Prairie and just like make everything from scratch apparently because even the things that are super clean, you know, have few ingredients.
One of them will be a seed oil and that is a huge, huge, huge inflammation like driver in our country right now. It’s in everything. It’s very cheap and the way that they’re made, they have to be heated at such a high high temperature. So they become rancid and then you put those in your body and it’s just a disaster.
It’s a recipe for disaster for cancer, for inflammation at a minimum. I would just urge you to To do that, because if you’re like, hey, I eat at home all the time and whatever, like that would also be one thing to look at that is just like, okay, well, this isn’t really loving to my body, this little sucker that they threw in there, you know what I mean?
I, we got the seasoning and it’s called the blend and it’s just salt, pepper, garlic. And it had sunflower oil in it. I’m like,
Quianna: well,
Angelika: I guess, you know, because this is like convenience, right? I’m like, I guess I can take the three separate seasonings and use that for my food. But yeah, I digress. That’s a, that’s a ramp for another day, but that’s something to look at.
Quianna: Oh my gosh. Well, quick question is, and this, I’m asking all the things because I’m curious. Is vegetable oil considered a seed oil? Yes. I use vegetable oil for everything.
Angelika: Oh, well, there you go. Hey, you might be able to get one thing that you take off. There you go. And you might be like, wow, I suddenly I feel so much better.
Yeah, I know. I hate that they call it vegetable oil. There’s not a single vegetable in that thing. They lie. Okay.
Quianna: Oh my gosh.
Angelika: So I would recommend if you’re needing to cook with oil, use avocado oil or coconut oil. Both of those oils, coconut oil will tend to give everything a coconutty flavor. So that has a time and place.
So just be aware of that. Avocado oil does not. And both of those can be heated higher than 350 and they’re not gonna go rancid. So that’ll be good. And then olive oil can be heated up to 350. And so that will be fine. But yeah, stick to those. As long as you are doing it less than medium for like on your stovetop or under 350 in the stove or in the oven.
I mean, okay. Oh, that’s so helpful. Yeah, that right there could be your thing, Kate. Like, honestly, that you’re well, it
Quianna: sucks because I’ve I’ve learned about the seed oil thing. Yes, thank you. Seriously, because I learned about the seed oil thing. And so I try to be mindful of that. But you’re right. Like, so I mean, I use gosh, we use much oil for, you know, a lot of our baking, we use it for it.
Oh my gosh. Like I love potstickers. Like I’m always frying up potstickers when we have like our famous Trader Joe’s orange chicken and right. Like our, um, honey walnut shrimp or whatever. And with rice, like, so we’re just like always using it. And okay. That’ll be the first to go. Thank you.
Angelika: Yeah. Yeah. And they, I think Costco even has avocado in like a spray bottle.
spray bottle too. So it’s like convenient.
Quianna: I have a hard time with avocado oil because things stick like it doesn’t it’s not as non stick but I guess this is my body and maybe that’s what needs to happen in my stomach. Hello. You know what?
Angelika: Don’t be afraid of using butter. Okay, or gee, it’s okay, right?
Like, I think we, our industry has been like, oh, we’re kind of demonizing like animal, animal products, but our body knows what to do with that. It doesn’t know what to do with seed oils because it just is, you know, seed oil started. They use them. They’re like waste product and they use it to oil machinery.
And then we somehow like, we’re like, oh, let’s just put it in the food and no, no, our body’s like, what is this? It’s not, it’s not great. So yeah, you can stick with those other oils or just do like your like beef tallow or like ghee and butter, right? Don’t be afraid of butter, guys. It’s good for you.
Quianna: I love some butter.
Oh my goodness. Well, I am loving this conversation, Angelica. This has been so informational and I’m just so grateful for you. So I did want to ask you, what are some other like products or maybe supplements that you recommend for us to try?
Angelika: Oh girl. Like I said, I I’m not one to recommend supplements because I want to know what’s in your gut first.
I’m just geeky nerdy like that. I’m like, I, we could throw money at you. Sure. Like, okay. One basic one would be vitamin D. Even though we live in Arizona, unless you’re sitting outside naked for 30 minutes and the sun is out, like it’s peak. You’re not every single day. You’re not getting it. Most of us are not new to us.
So I don’t really, I think most of us need vitamin D. So doing that is great. And making sure you take like 5, 000 IUs a day. That would be the one thing that I just, I’ve always done that just like helps keep your immune system. Nice and strong. Otherwise, yeah, I’m not gonna really everyone is so unique.
Everyone is a bio individual and what works for one person completely doesn’t work for another person. You know, some people are insulin resistant. Um, some people their insulin is just spiking all over the place and they need some regulation compared to the other person whose body handles it really well.
Right. Some people are lacking minerals and are deficient in so many things. And once we get the gym mapping, there’s a lot that we can tell. Also, I do recommend blood work as well. But honestly, I can just Do one thing. I would say do the GI mapping because that’s something that you don’t need to do all the time.
It’s maybe once a year, if that, and then you get, we see what it what’s going on. And then we can do a gut protocol for you based on your results. So then I’m going to be offering supplements. I’m going to be recommending certain ones based on what your results are. Like, am I cheap? Maybe I am. My husband is an engineer and he’s very cheap.
And I think over the 18 years he’s rubbed off on me because I’m like, save your money, honey, save your money. Let’s just get the results. Don’t guess test and let’s see the results. And then you can invest in your health and those supplements and things like that based on your results.
Quianna: I love that answer.
And you’re absolutely right. It’s like, hold on, let’s meet you where you are. Let’s not just keep throwing products and supplements and Just kind of like literally throwing spaghetti on the wall, like in the inner linings of your tummy here. Like, let’s get a game plan. Let’s get that roadmap. And then through your coaching and your healing, you’re able to truly guide us to that, like just ultimate health and mindset and just all the best things.
I love this so much. Well, I’m so excited to start wrapping up the conversation, and I feel like I could talk to you for hours and hours and hours about all this stuff. One question I love to ask every guest speaker is, what is your key tip, Angelica? What is something that you wish you knew sooner or you would love entrepreneurs to know today?
Angelika: Entrepreneurship is not for the faint, right? It is, it can be difficult. And I think, especially for me, I think for me, I’m like, Oh, there are so many other health coaches out there. You know, why would someone choose me in a field of health coaches? Well, it’s you. You are what makes it work. So, people want what you have to offer, your authenticity.
And so, instead of looking at other people and what they’re doing, like, it’s good to have some strategy to learn from. I love learning from people like you, Kiana. Who have been so successful and who have just, uh, they’ve hit those road bumps, right? And they’ve given kind of a blueprint on like how, how to overcome it.
I definitely love that and appreciate it. But sometimes I think we can get caught up in comparison. And forget what we truly have. Like what we have is so special. So you can be anything, be yourself, be authentic, be you. That’s number one.
Quianna: You are incredible. Thank you so much. And I couldn’t agree more.
It’s, I mean, entrepreneurship is hard and if you’re going to do hard things, let’s do them together. So we don’t feel so alone. We’re here to support you. And I’m just so honored to have you as a part of this mindset series, because. Just like you mentioned, we have like this, this gut in our mind, right?
Like we, especially as creatives, especially in this entrepreneur space, we have to trust our gut. Like we have to, so let’s fuel it with love. Let’s fuel it with nutrients. Let’s take care of our bodies. So. We can be that vessel, like we can go forth and just make all the impact that we want and, ah, I just love all that so much.
How can we get ahold of you, Angelica? And how can we get our hands on that GI testing and just learn more about getting all that set up?
Angelika: Yeah, so reaching out to me, you can go to Instagram. I have the cultivated wellness. You can find me there. You can go to the cultivated wellness. com and fill out, you know, the, um, contact me there.
Um, and you can email me. I think I even have my phone number on there. Honestly, you can text me. So, so many different ways that you can reach out and there are many options to where if you are just looking for a little more accountability. I am here for you. Let me be that sounding board and just help, help keep you accountable if you want to do it with friends.
I even have a group option, um, which is really nice. And then, um, I haven’t started yet, but I’m going to do some monthly. Zoom classes. So maybe we cook some gut healthy like food and we just chat and just have some time, like just, I don’t know. I just think that sounds so fun. So that’s kind of on the horizon right now.
Once you reach out to me, if you definitely are concerned about your gut, I mean, I’m always gonna be concerned about your gut, whether you are or not. So , it’s gonna come up. And, and then I will let you know, I can order the task that gets sent directly to you and then you do it. I get the results once they’re in.
So then we meet and we chat and we come up with a game plan on how to conquer all the things and, and show your body love and give your gut what it needs. So
Quianna: incredible. Oh my gosh. Well, I am so grateful for you. You are a wealth of knowledge and I just love your presence. I love. That you are so knowledgeable in all of this and you are ready to like, I just feel like you have this like Wipe out energy with a warm hug.
Like you’re here to help, but you also want to just give us so much grace and kind of lead the path to what’s best for us individually. And I think that is so beautiful in today’s society where, like you said, where a lot of us are struggling with this comparison game and what are they doing in their business?
Oh, she’s hit her 10k steps today. I got to get my ass up and I got to do this, right? Like it can be so overwhelming and having someone like you in our corner to support us and get us back on track with our health. I mean, that’s when true scaling happens. That’s when true growth happens and it all starts from within.
It’s so
Angelika: true. It’s so true. I love that. Thank you, Kiana. Yes. I hope I feel like a warm hug to everyone. That is my goal is just to feel like connection because that’s what I love and just meeting people right where they are. It’s so important to me.
