Have you ever been bamboozled by the Whopper theory? Now if you’re wondering what that is, I totally made it up. If you’re new here Hi, I’m Kiana and I am obsessed with analogies and sharing real life stories and really relatable topics of things that we know. But relating them to our business, right and how we can absolutely connect with our ideal clients, find dream customers, and just actually comprehend things right? Like I love a good story.
Maybe this is the preschool teacher and me coming out. But back to the Whopper theory and what exactly does that mean? Okay, so I want you to think about the Whopper Okay, the Burger King Whopper, I don’t even know how they’re still in business. They’re all over my my town here up and down the street. Like they’re everywhere.
I don’t know who’s keeping them in business. But they’re there no shame or hate to any BK lovers. But think of that Whopper right? When you see that billboard when you see that commercial. In fact, I don’t even think they call them commercials anymore. Their ads now, right? When you see that it just looks so delicious, right? I don’t know what it is about it, but it sizzling.
You know, it looks like it’s over like a flame. broiled barbecue, like it just looks so appetizing. And then when you pull it out of the greasy bag, and you steal a couple of French fries that have fallen, and you have it in your lap, like literally in your car on your way to the next event because you’re always in a hurry when you’re eating Burger King for any reason. And you realize, oh, like, did I make the right choice.
This looks really greasy. Now don’t get me wrong. A good old Whopper Jr. back in the day was always a good choice no matter how like greasy or how messy it looks. But the point I’m trying to share right now is like when you’re holding that burger, you’re actually second guessing yourself. You’re thinking this doesn’t look like the photos.
This doesn’t look like the advertisement for this, right. And so it kind of leaves you feeling icky. And gosh, maybe I need to get back into meal planning or whatever, I just need to scarf this down to get to my next event. So I don’t get hangry. Like that’s most important right now, right? Now, I want you to think about Whopper theory with your business. Okay, so this is where the analogy comes in. And I hope I don’t lose you on this one. Okay. So if you’re only posting beautifully curated, just perfect lighting images.
And then you’re sharing the behind the scenes. Here’s the thing, your behind the scenes of that offer of that experience actually leaves people feeling loved, supported, and proud and super highly emotional, whether they’re laughing or sharing a tear, or just proving that you are the absolute best choice. Okay, so I don’t want to lose you on this here.
I just kind of want to kind of compare that, like the reason why capturing behind the scenes and adding video to your marketing strategy. Like we have no greasy cheeseburgers here. Like we have incredible milestones, and just beautiful memories for our clients to share and to cherish forever. And that’s how we’re different, right? I’m not trying to compare the two saying that were like, you know, just like the Whopper theory. We’re actually the business theory, right?
Where we can, yes, have these beautifully curated commercials and our websites and our social media that shows that we’re really shiny and beautiful and have a perceived value of who we are and what we are what we provide. But then when you actually double that with behind the scenes video, Like imagine just like that video of the opening of that greasy bag of drive thru, and instead of feeling about it, we we are and our clients are raving about us, right? Like we’re proving Oh, no, no, no, like, we are absolutely the best choice for this, right?
We made the best decision because while working with us, we feel well taken care of. We feel just so warm and fuzzy that we want to share all over social media with all of our friends as the old school word of mouth goes and truly book more clients and more dream customers, right because we’re creating that magic. Now. If you’re not getting it online, back to the Whopper theory it just sits in a bag in the front of your car and hopefully it gets thrown out one day, right?
Like we need to get those warm, gooey, loving feelings on line. So today we’ll be discussing 10 Easy hacks for adding video marketing to your business and lifestyle to help you create deeper connections and friendships in your real life and genuine referrals for your business.
The point of this is to help you build your credibility as the expert you are meet new friends and help add richness soul and adventure to your life so you can authentically be yourself in the real world. Okay, so number one, you already have your phone, whether you are an iPhone, user, Android user, or whatever types of other phones are out there, like you already have everything you need, you just need to hit that little red button that says a record and get to action.
Okay, a couple tips here I have about audio. So I use a lavalier wireless microphone when I’m doing interviews when I’m either Speaking for myself, it’s a cute little like lapel microphone. And it comes with too, and I love it because it actually plugs right into my iPhone. And that’s how it gets the juices going. I don’t know, I still haven’t figured out how to charge it. It just kind of comes to life once it’s plugged into my phone, maybe wrong about that.
We have those little microphones which are great for interviews that comes with two microphones and they’re completely wireless. A couple tips about that is make sure that it isn’t a space on either your, your guest or whoever you’re interviewing. And you know, it’s on their, like their neckline, right, like tuck it right onto their clothes, it has a little clip, which is great, because you’re not actually poking holes in anybody or their clothing. It’s just a little clip, but be mindful of the hair. Because hair kind of makes that and I’m sorry, this is annoying, but it will make that it’ll kind of make that sound while you’re speaking. So make sure that that is crystal clear and away from hair.
Another key tip I have about your video production is lighting. Okay, so natural lighting will always always be my favorite, whether that’s window light, or directly outside light really makes a difference. But I would say it’s not as important as the audio quality or even the visual quality. Audio to me is the best if you can clearly create clean audio that people actually want to listen to.
They don’t technically have to see, right, it’s just an extra. But I will definitely scroll right past something if the audio was crappy. So try to prioritize the audio. And then of course, if window lighting is not available, if the only time you have to do any type of work is you know in the dead of winter, and there’s not a lot of natural light or at nighttime ring lights, LED video lights, or even a softbox lighting that a lot of us pros use would be another option as well.
That’s pretty much what sums up the gear, I tried to make this super simple, you can add a tripod in there, you can add really fun clips that maybe can go right onto your camera, it goes right into your hot shoe, which is great for behind the scenes. But like I said, that’s pretty much the bare minimum, like you do not have to have any of the fancy gear or any of the fancy cameras to get started today.
All right, now let’s chat more about the apps. Okay, so first and foremost, I prioritize having Google photos on my phone, and, and also iCloud. So both of those are being like they’re sucking up the images and the video from my phone. So it’s backed up like in the air. To me, I just love that feature. Because now be careful. Like if you click the wrong box, I don’t know what happens. But basically, if I delete anything from my phone, it doesn’t get deleted from the Google Cloud or like the iCloud situation. It’s not mirroring it. It’s just a backup situation.
Make sure that is all completely, like streamlined for you. So you’re not deleting photos off your phone thinking they’re backed up, like make sure that’s okay. Okay, don’t say Oh, well, Kiana told me to do this. And then some behind the scenes clips are deleted forever. Like, please be careful. Okay, but I definitely prioritize using these Google Photos because it’s super easy to search. It’s super easy to look for dates, and they totally categorize things.
If I’m looking for a dog photo, because I’m creating a post about Faith, my German Shepherd, anything like that, if I’m looking at a specific wedding date, boom, it’ll come up or even a specific venue, which is crazy. It’s probably giving too much too much information to Google, but um, They pretty much have our life anyway.
So at this point, whatever is convenient for me and keeps my behind the scenes video and photo safe, I’m all about. Okay, so definitely prioritize your storage and backup. The next kind of program or app that I use for all my video editing is called Canva. So really Canva has been in my back pocket slash on my desktop for the last like five years like I literally use Canva for everything.
It’s great for easily creating text, trimming the video, and adding graphics, specific fonts, brand colors, even animations for easy drag and drop templates.
Be sure to check out my shop, the Green House, the resource garden for photographers and entrepreneurs for work digital products, workshops, free trainings and many horses to set you up with a fast pass for all of these time consuming tasks, checkout to garden aka library full of templates, guides and downloads today at QuiannaMarie.com/shop. Everything will be linked in the show notes too. So if you couldn’t have time to like write that down, or maybe you’re busy cleaning or on the go. Don’t worry, though all the in the show notes. I mostly edit these videos on my laptop.
So just because it’s just so much easier, right? Like I just at this time in my life, I’m 35 years old, I need a bigger screen. And I need a mouse these days, right? Sometimes I’m just spending too much time on my phone that to get meticulous with editing, I’ve just rather have the designated time on my laptop. And it’s just easier. And yes, and so then once I have the quick video edited using the templates, using the fonts that I love, and getting really creative with animations, then I take that video and actually export it for more editing.
Okay, so now if I’m on the go and I don’t have time, sometimes I’m just creating a quick little behind the scenes of a wedding day or an event or something that I shot that day. And I just really am just taking like five or six videos and cutting them down to like one or two second video clips, then I prioritize using video shop. That’s my next favorite app to play with. I do believe there is a free version. But if you want the like the logo, or watermark to disappear and unlock some features, then definitely invest in video shop. And it’s just a great program to use on the go with your phone.
Alright, so once that video is edited, and then exported right to my camera roll, this is a secret sauce. Okay, so what you’re gonna want to do is invest in the app called captions. Now, it’s totally I’m totally not sponsored by them, like I don’t get any money or any type of affiliate marketing for them. I just love it. And I truly, truly use it often.
So currently, their logo looks like a little black circle with a white little thought bubble. And this app is magical. Okay, so I do pay an annual fee for this, I believe it’s like 50 bucks a year. Honestly, I don’t even know what it is anymore. Maybe it’s like $20, I forget. But it’s totally worth it. Personally, I find that it’s just so much easier to drop a trend and edited video into this app. To add all of the captions to bounce across the video, this app pulls out the words of your video within about 30 seconds to about a minute, depending on how long your video is, and easily easily pops the words out into the captions like the text bubbles that go over the video.
Now, they make it super easy for you to make any edits to the words. So for example, like if there’s any spelling changes, like my name Kiana always, always, always needs to be edited, right? So I’m very thankful for my mom for giving me a unique name because, and especially the spelling of the name because I’m hyper focused. And I am so hyper aware of all of my clients, customers, friends, and anybody that I’m emailing basically, I’m super super, like hyper aware of the spelling of their name, so I just don’t want to mess that up. So thanks mom for giving me a very different name.
But getting back to captions, okay, so you can change the colors, the fonts and truly create a branded video. Now, I don’t know if you’ve seen those all over Tik Tok or Instagram, but it’s when those text bubbles like just pop over and bounce over. Like sometimes you can have key words that can change different colors, but they’re just very interactive.
I just love these because they’re great for voice overs too. Right? So if this is starting to feel way too complicated, you can easily share a story, a Client Testimonial, some education tips for your customers, or even some B roll Hyperlapse is like actual Hyperlapse videos of you working and literally talking without ever sharing your face. Now I highly encourage you to share your face but if you’re just getting started, or maybe you need some filler content to share that’s impactful and not just fluff to just share because you need something to post then I would totally totally prioritize making some of these videos that have really great text or contexts, literally, that you’re sharing with these videos. And these words just pop up, they’re very engaging, you just got to try it.
I hope this gear list and programs help you feel prepared and ready to rock your content this week. Now, let’s roll right into 10 Easy hacks for adding video into your lifestyle. I love a good list of bullet points. But these are going to be a bit jumbled. And in no particular order. Now I do have them chunked into two different lists.
Okay, so like the first half of the list is all about Hyperlapse videos, I’m going to make this so incredibly easy for you, right, I want to start easy, and then we’ll get into like intermediate and like challenging, okay, but the first half of this list are just Hyperlapse videos. And if you’re unfamiliar with hyperlapse, really, it’s just another word for time lapse, which is when the phone is set up. And you can literally just scroll this, you have an iPhone, if you scroll and end up to the left side of the menu.
It’s like you’re scrolling to the right, but you end up on the left side. That last button is called time lapse, which is also hyperlapse. And really it just means is it’s a sped up video. And I believe actually I should look up the definition of this. But really, it just means that it’s like snipping a whole bunch of photos to create this video, right?
So anyway, the reason why it’s so easy is because you set it, you hit record, and then you forget about it. And then the second part of this list is going to be all about recording action. So this is going to take a little bit more engagement, a little bit interaction with either you and a client or with a friend. Okay, so that’s going to be a little bit more challenging. So let’s start with the easy stuff.
Okay. And, you know, I just, I just love a good list with bullet points. But like I said, we’re gonna start with the easy stuff. And, you know, I get it, like, I just know that this stuff can be overwhelming. I really do. And I’m just want to remind you that I’ve been prioritizing these hacks for almost two decades.
I’ve been a full time photographer, educator, content creator, speaker, kitchen dancer, and mentor for over a decade. And these hacks are not only fun and easy, but they keep me fully booked. Even when I moved out of state and pivoted my offers. Are you ready for this? Like, like, I just I’m just so excited to share this with you. Okay, so let’s go.
Number one, remember we’re doing Hyperlapse is sending emails, editing, working at your death. Okay, so this is just one little thought bubble, take it as you need it. Okay, like take as needed.
But for this one, you’re literally just going to set up your phone, either on your Stanley or your Yeti, whatever you’re sipping out of this morning. And you can even put it on a tripod to find a flattering kind of angle of view while you’re working. I know for me example, I tap back I typically have this super serious working face. And so I tried to be a little mindful of that while I am recording. But really, here’s the thing, babe, you’re already doing the work, right?
You’re already sending emails, you’re already sitting at your computer working on your family, many sessions this fall, right? You’re working at your desk, okay? capture that, okay? Even if you just prioritize 30 minutes to capture content of you actually working, you’re going to create an incredible bank of content. Okay, so start there. Like I said, you’re already doing the work. Just hit record.
Number two chores. This one’s super easy.
Some of you may be rolling your eyes thinking there’s no way in hell, I’m going to be sharing my messy living room or my cluttered kitchen like No, thank you, right. But I challenge you, because how often have you seen other creators? Literally folding laundry? Cleaning? restocking the refrigerator taking cleaning? detergent, right? Like taking their laundry detergent, out of the container and putting it in a glass jar? Like come on, like people? I don’t know. But maybe maybe I sound crazy.
I’ve done other things that maybe you have not. But people people watch that, right. So sharing that your cooking, sharing that your meal planning and prepping will create such a beautiful, like, relatable moment for your clients. Okay, not all of our clients can relate to what we do every day, they literally have no idea unless they’re a part of that experience, or they’re literally paying us right.
But for the people that are still watching and learning from afar, they’re going to want to see that you’re a normal human being and that you do still some of these chores, right? So that’s a super easy one for you to record.
Number three client experience. This one obviously is my favorite where I get to share more about behind the scenes of your next photo shoot pro Being a gift box, or maybe sending a really cute thank you note, or even just capturing client meetings, whether you’re meeting a client for a quick coffee, or maybe you’re hopping on a zoom call, because you guys aren’t very local, right? So these are things once again to hyperlapse.
You can also create like a normal video. But Hyperlapse is so easy for this, right? Because it’s not capturing any audio. And you’re truly proving that you’re an expert like you’re in the field, you’re actually doing this, you’re in high demand.
Such an easy way to share that you’re still in business. Number four, self love. This one is something this is one that I am truly prioritizing this season. I personally have been kind of putting this on the back burner. But what I mean by self love is capturing yourself working out, journaling, hiking, maybe going on some hot girl walks, dancing in the kitchen, hanging out with your dog, really sharing anything that you’re a real human, but subliminally sharing that you’re prioritizing your health for clarity, creativity, inconsistency. Number five, education. So this one, once again, it’s absolutely an easy list, because you’re already doing the state, right? I mean, how many webinars have we signed up for? Are you currently a part of a mastermind, right?
So think of the webinars, conferences, coaching calls, anything that proves that you’re sharpening your skills you’re learning and you’re growing? This also includes books, right? Like what’s on your nightstand? What are you reading? Or what are you watching? Right? Like, how are you filling your time and your energy to absolutely improve your skills? Okay? And here’s what this does to it highlights other people in your circle, okay, because those educators are most likely going to reshare that because they’re really proud of your progress.
Now, you know, I can’t speak for everybody. But I absolutely would, right. So if we’re working together, and you post about something that we’ve been working on, I’m so stoked to reshare that or to maybe even add that as a testimonial in a in a upcoming launch or in the next mini course launch, right, something like that. But just making sure that people are also aware that you’re always learning and investing in yourself really goes a long way. Okay, once again, super easy.
You’re already doing it. Now, I love to use these clips to share stories with text overlays, or even voiceovers, these are the perfect video clips, to ask questions, share education, maybe even share some key tips, reminders, your to do list, right? So you can literally share to do list over these Hyperlapse videos, these last five ideas, and you can share it to do lists of that day of that week, maybe even some big milestone goals for the month or by the end of the year. Right. Like, just think of all the possibilities that you can be sharing with content. Once you have these behind the scene videos captured, share about your journey and live in bold capital letters. Okay, this is a season of showing up this is a season of shining online, right?
Like we just like stop playing small. Okay. Okay, I’m saying that for myself to listen to. So let’s keep rolling into the last half of these 10 hacks. And these ones are going to be I would say a little bit more challenging, okay, these would be videos that you’re recording more interactions, you actually have to like go outside of your house to do okay. And you might have to do some peoplein and some extra averting, but I promise it’ll be worth it. If you want to book more clients, like we have to get out of our little bubbles.
Okay, so number six local events, going to the local farmers market, neighborhood boutiques, wedding fairs anywhere that there’s a ton of booths, okay, I want you to imagine that like not quite the mall status, but like actual local booths. And right now this is a season right? So I’m actually recording this the end of October this should be released about the second or third week of November. So we’re in the height of like craft fairs and holiday boutiques. This is your permission slip slash, your green light to go show up to these and record about three to four of your favorite vendors or products and tag them.
Okay. It’s really that simple. And especially if you’re making a purchase, and you want to highlight that local vendor. The best compliment you can ever give a small business is sharing a referral and sharing some type of shout out right like we will be forever grateful for you. If you just take literally 40 seconds to snap that photo. Make sure you’re tagging us properly and share it to a story share it to your Facebook somewhere online will just be so amazing.
This really gets back to the root of creating these genuine friendships right these genuine connections, number seven, hosting or attending parties. So I love doing a little bit of both. This could be planning a Friendsgiving with your besties, or hosting a client appreciation event. The whole point of this, once again, is literally rattling the universe and giving not only yourself but future potential clients, your past clients, your friends, your family, people that already love you giving them a reason to actually pull out their phone and encapture a little behind the scenes clip, right? Like actually create milestone and like, core memories, okay, like, this is what it’s all about.
Because when you surround yourself with people that you love, and new friends, sparks fly, opportunities happen, right? I mean, I know for me personally, as I’ve continued to put myself out there and surround myself with really, really awesome people. As soon as I start sharing about my dreams, as soon as I start sharing about what’s on my agenda, or what’s, what my goals are, like, they help me it’s like, oh, oh, I know the perfect person that you need to talk to.
I gotta get you on this next podcast, right? Or, oh, wow, I know, so and so who’s looking for you, I was just talking to a friend who needs whatever. Okay, so definitely creating these things, either safely in your home or at your best friend’s house or at a local venue is really going to create a ton of content. Once again, you’re just there to make memories, and you’re really making an impact for someone.
Number eight client testimonials. So this one is one of my favorites, because it’s a super lazy hack. Obviously, if you can get actual video of your clients sharing a link, sharing an actual testimonial, or maybe even opening up a wedding album, or touring their home for the first time, like, can you imagine if you’re a realtor, and you just gave your clients the keys to their first home, and you actually get video of them walking into their home, like, almost like a HGTV like house flippers vibe thing, right?
This is happening in your neighborhood, and you just see their reactions, and you see their emotions, like, that’s beautiful, like that’s something that actually trigger something and stir something in your heart. And I just think it’s beautiful, because once again, you’re already doing this, okay, so we just have to create that. And then another lazy hack that I have is actually either creating a slideshow of your images.
If you’re a wedding photographer, and you’re sharing a Client Testimonial, maybe they just wrote an email or you have like a written form of it, not an actual video, then I suggest taking that testimonial and absolutely butchering it, like you’re not adding words or making things up. But maybe you need to kind of, you know, edit it a little bit to shrink it into just one screen, you know, maybe just like a short paragraph. And you can literally just put that over a slideshow of your images, right? So simple. We have to start thinking outside of the box and truly marketing our business.
Because we literally, like if we’re not talking about our business, then why would anybody else?
And then number nine, I mentioned it briefly earlier, but podcasting. Okay, so now you may be thinking, oh gosh, no, I don’t have a podcast, I have no interest in being on a podcast now. Although I think you are absolutely overqualified to pitch to a podcast that you would like to be a guest on if you don’t have your own.
But what I mean by this is actually podcasting style videos. So what this looks like is you setting up a cute little corner in your home office, or out and about maybe even just like in the front of your car, if you if you’re a busy mama and don’t have any peace and quiet in your own home, hop into the front seat of your car. I mean, those cars have the best window light. And typically the best audio, right? Because it’s typically really quiet in there.
What I mean by the podcasting style is you’re literally just putting up your phone, hitting record, and sharing the story, sharing a story about your life sharing a story about your business, highlighting another vendor highlighting another business, anything like that, right? So really, it’s just capturing a cue, almost like interview and you can even if you’re feeling really nervous, I totally, totally encourage you to look directly at the phone or like directly at the camera. But if you’re feeling nervous, do a side profile, or whatever feels comfortable to you.
So it looks like you’re actually talking to someone else. Totally works. Okay, so definitely make time for some podcasting style. And then number 10 going on adventures. This is one of my favorites. So try new restaurants and exploring. I think sometimes we get so caught up with focusing on our ideal clients and the need for them needing our services that we forget that our clients love food. They love DIY home renovations.
They love some good lazy girl workout tips and even some really fun Amazon fashion finds. Right so for example, If you’re a local photographer are trying to get top of mind during engagement season, and prepping for booking season, I would prioritize to marine local wedding venues, and local wedding dress shops. But just as much as I would prioritize those, I also would share about what I’m wearing as a guest to my cousin’s wedding, I would literally share new workout classes that my best friend and just signed me like, give me a guest pass to or something, right, like, how are you so much more than just your business?
Okay, so going on new adventures, taking new drives, finding new hiking locations, getting yourself basically out of that work bubble, and bringing out those pieces of you being human again, is amazing. Get outside, try new things, and hit record just a couple of seconds here and there to simply document your journey and capture the things that you love. Think about it, though, the best marketers will remind you that what you have in your camera roll right now says everything they need to know about what you love.
Do you love your clients? Do you love your business? Maybe you love yourself? Do you love that you are an expert and that you have worked years and years to perfect this experience? Well, it’s time to capture you to Bay and capture yourself working with your dream clients with your current clients kind of hanging out with your family and just having the best time like, this is the time to capture video. Alright, so to wrap up and sum up this list, I’m gonna power through this recap for you.
Okay, so number one, working at your desk, number two chores, doing anything around the house that makes you a real human. Number three, client experience, let’s prove why you’re the best by literally just showing what you’re doing for your clients. Number four, self love. It’s your time baby. You cannot give and give and give and give without giving to yourself. Right? So please, for all the love that you give to everyone else, it’s time for you to love yourself. Number five, education now is the best time to sign up for that next mini course, to book your calendar and book those flights for upcoming conferences. It’s so fun.
Number six local events, you actually have to go out and seek these events, right? So don’t wait for parties to just knock on your door. Like you need to go outside and find them. Number seven parties and hosting events. This is the season of events, right? So even if you don’t have the means or have no interest in hosting anybody at your own home.
No worries, just attend like a couple. Okay, just a couple before the new year. Number eight client testimonials. UGC, which is user generated content is a great way to add so much value and validation to your business. Number nine, podcasting. So hop on that podcast, maybe even just listen to podcasts like there’s an idea to like, literally even for for my podcast, like share that you’re listening like you’re here you’re putting the time in and I’m so grateful to share this time with you. I really, really appreciate you. So post about it, share it right, like share any other recommendations, send this to a friend.
Then of course, you know that really fun podcasting style. Like just talk to your phone. Just speak to it think like you’re a Kardashian in that like little confession booth or something right.
And then number 10 adventures. Once again, I love giving green lights. This is your green light. To truly love your life. Get outside, make some memories. Nothing that you do has to be expensive, right? Going for a walk and checking out another local park in your neighborhood. Anything to get you outside to spark new ideas.
Let that blood flow through you and boost that creativity. All right. So I hope you found this episode helpful and encouraging. And as a reminder, you’re already doing the work Babe, you are incredible. And I believe you inherently are just priceless and so incredibly valuable. I just want more people to see you, to know you to trust you and to pay you. pay you for what you do and what you love. All right. Once again. I’m so so thankful you’re here. Keep on dancing, baby. I cannot wait to chat with you next week. Okay, love you. Bye. That’s a wrap on another episode of Quianna Marie Weekly.
Thank you so much for your listenership and support. You can find the resources and show notes for this episode and more at Kiana murray.com/podcast. I’d be honored if you’d show your support by leaving a review and rating on your favorite podcast app. Until next time, keep on dancing.
