com slash podcast. Join me as I share weekly motivation, chat about growing pains, finding genuine connections, and celebrating your wins. through the lens of a photographer at heart. Come join me for a dance party. Ready? Let’s go.
All right, babe, we are in the, I would say like the thick of Q1 and we are getting ready to really kill 2025, right? Like we are prepared to get things done. Even though we’re still in winter, I feel like we’re kind of defrosting and kind of getting things into gear. We are creating really good habits for ourselves.
And we’re really excited for this upcoming year and all the possibilities backed by all of the hard work we’ve been doing for the last couple of years, right? So I see you, you’re growing, you’re pivoting, expanding, and literally becoming the next version of yourself. You need the people around you to get an introduction to this new you.
Now for this episode, I am so pumped. We are going to chat all about reintroducing yourself. And this is going to be a fun conversation. It’s going to be a little bit candid. I’m going to riff a little bit, but I do have a plan for us. And I just want to kind of express the fact that there’s two very separate ways to look at reintroducing ourselves.
And these are just my little definitions slash things that have come to mind. So the first one is the fact that we are growing, we’re investing in our education, our energetics are rising to the roof, and we’re literally the next version of ourselves, right? I would say, because I’m, I’m not like a serial entrepreneur, I never feel like I know enough.
I always feel like I need to learn more and I’m always growing. I don’t think I’ve reached the highest version of myself, but I feel like about that next level. Right? So if you’re feeling that way, it’s time for reintroduction. It’s time for people to know this next version of you. The second way of looking at it is to reintroduce yourself to who you once were.
It’s the compound effect of society telling you how to be what you should become, creating a societal norms for your career, lifestyle, and even how you think. The reintroduction is peeling away all of those layers to reveal your true self. It’s as if we’re allowing our inner child to fully express themselves and to create freedom to truly be yourself.
Do you see the difference there? I feel like one is like growing and expanding and the other one is actually just revealing. It’s just like peeling off the layers. And almost like kind of like a scrubbing stone and like getting water on it in a like a river rock to see its beautiful colors, right? Like we just needed to unveil and kind of clean and polish it up to really see it shine.
And this is why I’m like, I wanted to look this up, right? I wanted to actually look up the definition of reintroduce. So it’s a verb, and the first little state says to bring, and it says something especially law or system, into existence or effect again. So this kind of goes back to the first thought I talked about where it’s like you’re bringing something to, like, into existence, like something that hasn’t been created yet or hasn’t been discovered yet.
And then the second part is when you put a species of an animal or plant back into a region where it formerly lived. I find this fascinating too because just like I mentioned the two different ways of looking at it with this example it’s It’s actually putting somebody back where they once belonged, like at one point something was taken from its original origin and then put back.
Knowing these definitions, both straight from the Google dictionary and my own thoughts on the word reintroduction, how can your circle, community, and family get reintroduced to you? What brings you joy? What allows you to truly rest? What activity sparks creativity? What is the mission behind your business?
If you could do anything for free, what would it be? Now I know that can be a little triggering or maybe paralyzing with the monetary or money exchange behind that question. So I want to kind of rephrase this. If doing anything for free makes you feel kind of icky or it’s hard to articulate, try this.
When you’re in your element, what are you doing? When you’re zoned in and hours fly by on the clock and they feel like minutes. When someone says, Oh, there she goes doing what she does best. What is that? What’s that thing? Thinking of being in your element. I love a good example. So this one, everyone can relate to, and the next one will be a little more of a Kiana thing, but I love sharing these.
So it’ll help you discover your own element. Before I get into these examples, make sure to check out Bloom with B Roll, the mini course for business owners to help capture the behind the scenes, client experience, and all of your expertise. You’re already doing the hard work. We need more people to know you.
This B Roll course will help attract aligned clients, prove your value to strangers online, And introduce yourself before you even meet them in person. Over the last 15 years, I recorded and captured the behind the scenes of my weddings, boudoir, photo shoots, mini sessions, conferences, and everyday adventures.
I really did it just for fun and to share these milestones with my clients as home video vibes, right? So it really was for them and they loved it. As I continue to pivot and develop my own personal brand, my friends, family, and followers stick around and support me no matter what I’m doing or selling these days, head over to Kiana Marie dot com slash B roll.
That’s Q. U. I. A. N. N. A. Marie dot com. Slash B R O L L, that’s B roll without the hyphen, or of course, you’re always welcome to check the show notes or slide into my DMs for more. Okay, back to the example. So Mike and I just moved into our little fixer wrapper and we’re finally now almost done absorbing all of our boxes, unpacking, and settling in.
We have so many projects to do and I have scrolls of Pinterest inspirations to tackle. One thing I noticed right away was that our kitchen is now south facing, and in Mike’s old house, the kitchen was north facing, so like on opposite sides. And my plants that are barely hanging on now on the opposite side of the house, right?
So we had switch. So now they’re getting different sun exposure. They had a little adjustment, but I haven’t killed them yet. Are you familiar with plants and moving them around the house? You see, when we have a plant that is placed somewhere in your house and it doesn’t look like it’s happy in that spot.
Maybe it starts to wilt, it just doesn’t look like it’s thriving. Do you just throw it away? No! Do you tell it it’s stupid or dumb for not being able to adjust to the new kitchen window? Of course not! I would simply move it to another windowsill, try another room, or maybe even just add some water. Maybe it just needs a little drink.
If I’m being really transparent, I even talk to my plants. Yes, I’m that crazy lady that talks to my plants. Give it a little motivational speech or share some affirmations with them. If you find yourself in rooms that feel off, maybe the vibes aren’t feeling good, or it’s just not serving you anymore, this is your sign to walk into a different room.
You see that sweet little plant doesn’t have legs. No matter how resilient the plant is, it can’t actually move itself. But guess what? You can! Physically moving your body to try new locations or getting yourself back to a place that you once thrived in maybe isn’t so bad after all. Or maybe the vibes are good.
You’re glowing and growing. But you’re literally a fiddle leaf tree and you’re bumping the ceiling, forcing your leaves and limbs to bend or to crouch to squeeze under the ceiling. Do you find yourself playing small or downplaying your accomplishments to fit in with your current circles? Maybe even your family, maybe even your best friends and you’re outgrowing them.
What are you doing to collide your talents, dreams, and environment for growth and abundance? Okay, so for me, I have an example of getting in the room. Just like the succulent, I’m pretty hardy and will survive. I will survive. I’m like that song, I will survive, right? I will survive through any situation.
When I invest in workshops, education, conferences, or retreats, they will absolutely boost my energy and bring clarity to my business. By the time this episode airs, I will have already experienced the second Speaker Spotlight event. This event is hosted and created by one of my business besties, Stephanie.
She created a safe space to practice speaking and to nail down your stage presence. Steph curates an incredible experience to get yourself on stage in front of a loving and supportive crowd of peers, mentors, and business besties. For this event, Steph records your speech and delivers a handful of edited soundbites and videos to help pitch yourself to upcoming events and speaking opportunities.
This opportunity is HUGE, literally all capital letters, HUGE, because it helps you not only get the jitters out and practice your presentation, but it also connects you with a thriving community that will connect you with even more opportunities. It’s truly an honor to capture the behind the scenes and photos for this event and to hear the moving stories of everyone that takes the stage.
I’m tying all of this together with a bow to remind you that it’s time to reintroduce yourself. If you find yourself pitching to be on podcast, Putting yourself out there to become a speaker, planning to host an upcoming event, or simply have an incredible service or offer to share. Now is the time for the reintroduction.
Maybe you’ve elevated yourself to the next version of yourself, or you’re grateful to reveal pieces of you that you’ve been hiding for way too long. We want to see all of it. The growth, the abundance, the energy. Help us celebrate you by celebrating yourself. First, so let’s dive into some ways to reintroduce yourself.
I love a good list. I have just five quick key tips to get us started with this reintroduction. Number one, sticking to your new habits. When we find alignment with who we are and who we’re becoming, the stacked habits help us get there faster. It’s like the fast pass in Disneyland. It allows us to embody that next level.
Maybe it’s a new morning routine, writing down moments of gratitude while you enjoy your coffee, adding an evening walk after supper, or really just following through with the things you say you’re gonna do. Before we can reintroduce ourselves to anyone, we need to reintroduce ourselves to ourselves. I know that sounds silly, but it’s true.
We need to wholeheartedly believe it and see it to be true. Number two, dress to feel your best. After an episode with one of my stylist, besties Dolce from episode 1 0 5, shifting Your energy with fashion, it clicked and it clicked with me that it takes the same amount of energy to wear soft slacks and a comfy top with maybe a little bit of jewelry, same energy as it does to dress in leggings and an oversized shirt.
When we elevate our attire, it really does send sparks of joy into our steps and makes us walk into rooms with confidence. I’m really looking forward to getting my colors analyzed by Michelle with House of Color SW Chandler. You gotta check her out at her Instagram. It’s House of Color SW Chandler. And the color is like the Canadian way of spelling color.
It’s C O L O U R. They add that extra U in there. It’s so cute. But she is wildly talented. And she’s a color expert that helps determine your season of colors. My bestie Tara has done it and many of our friends from Connect Belong AZ have done it and I can’t wait. Knowing your colors will help brighten your face and complement your skin tone.
I’ve been wanting to do it forever and I can’t wait for my turn. Okay, but for real, as your big sister, this is your reminder to dress like the millionaire that you are with what you have now. Number three, book your next brand shoot. I know this is a shameless plug, but there’s a reason why the ambitious women I work with continue to grow their success and make a buttload of money.
Once they work with me, booking a brand shoot or content day creates clarity. You’ll refine your offers, find alignment with your dream clients and customers, and really have so much fun celebrating and promoting your business. When you’re ready to level up your personal brand with fresh photos and b roll, I’m ready for you, babe.
Literally, just let me know and we will get your booty on the calendar. Number four, invest in education. This one is huge because even if we’re feeling an emotional and energetic change within us, Having the education certifications or street cred to prove that growth really does help, right? So I feel like it’s something tangible.
And I know education literally just brainwaves being transferred here, right? Like light bulbs are firing. I know there’s got to be lots of cool science y words to explain the evolution of ideas and thoughts in our heads. These are like way bigger words than I know, right? But there’s something that adds that validation, even for us.
So if we know that we are investing in this, we are making that exchange. We have proof, right? There’s proof in the pudding that we are actually investing and taking care of ourselves and growing. Having that education truly is like the easiest way to reintroduce yourself because it’s an experience you’ve made and you’re actually making it tangible.
You’re making it something that you can look back on and be proud of and actually make it feel like a step. Like you’re actually making that next step. Okay. Okay. And number five, update your online presence. This goes down to the nitty gritty of changing your business name if it no longer serves you, updating everything from your email signature, your profile picture, to branding and marketing materials.
As entrepreneurs, we literally name our title whatever we want, right? We never really celebrate promotions. We create for ourselves. I want you to define your title. Who are you? What do you do? I want you to define your new roles, your pivots, and your growth. Post it just like Kevin from high school updates his LinkedIn every day, right?
Like every move he makes, you know what Kevin’s up to, right? I know that sounds silly. I’m sure we all have a friend Kevin from high school, but they’re posting on LinkedIn They’re giving us those updates, right? So we should be doing that as well and wearing that badge of honor Wearing that new title with so much pride and being excited to do that Now that you have those five easy steps, you’re ready for your reintroduction.
Now is the time to start talking about it. So the next time you go anywhere, I’m talking, you go to the grocery store, you go to a baby shower, you show up to, I don’t know, your nephew’s football game, right? If someone says hello and introduces themselves. Don’t feel the pressure to introduce yourself like as your business name.
I know that’s totally a thing that a lot of us, that a lot of us entrepreneurs do, but I really do want you to have the confidence to just start saying exactly what you’re doing or what you want to be doing, right? So whatever resonates better. So for example, when people, I would say recently in the last couple of years would ask me, you know who I am and what I do, I would always back up that validation and say, well, I’ve been a wedding photographer for 15 years and now I’m doing this.
I don’t know what it was. It definitely was my identity shift, right? But stop that. Okay. Like I’m literally saying this with so much love and I’m actually re trying to rewire my brain as well that today I am a podcast host. I am a brand photographer and intuitive content coach. That’s what I love to do.
And that’s what I’m leading forward. Even right now. I feel like Monica Geller. We’re like, I’m like, my butt is sweaty, right? Like it feels like so crazy to say that, but it’s real. We have to start introducing ourselves that way. Okay, a couple more tangible ways to start reintroducing yourself when you send out your Christmas cards.
I know it’s a little bit early to be thinking about that, right? Like we just put our decorations away and we’re getting ready for spring. It’s coming in. It’s starting to warm up a little bit. Well, especially here in Arizona. Think of your Christmas card newsletters, right? I mean, we talk about our kids, we tell how old they are, and what grade they’re in, and maybe some of their interests sometimes, but use that time when you’re actually mailing out to the masses and share about your business.
Share about how your friends and your family can refer you. I remember back in the day, my best friend’s husband used to always refer me. He was so excited to spread my name, especially now that I got out here to Arizona and I, he knew I was trying to meet new people and make connections. And if someone was looking for a bar, like a bar mitzvah photographer, he would, he would throw my name out there, which that wasn’t really my wheelhouse, but at the time I was grateful to take anything that came my way.
Right. And so what I’m saying is the people that you and the ones that love us the most and that cheer us on and want to support us and bring business to us. They may not even be clear with what we’re currently offering. So how do we bring that up? Right? Literally. Next time your family is together, say, Hey guys, by the way, I don’t know if anybody has told you this is what I’m working on.
I’m really passionate about this. And if anybody is looking for this, please throw my name in the hat or please refer me. I’m no longer doing blank, right? Like you have to say these things. And even if it is at your niece’s third birthday party, and you’re kind of addressing as many people in the room as possible, like you don’t have to make an announcement, but you do have to start that conversation.
And when you do that in safe places where you feel loved and supported, it’s going to be so much easier to get that out there, right? I also encourage you to do a formal announcement, create a post, create something, right? I never, I never posted that I’m officially done photographing weddings. I simply closed the door, but I did not throw away the key.
So I’m trying to be strategic with that. Who knows what the future may bring? It’s definitely a asset or a talent that I have that I will pull out when needed in the future. But I want you to think about maybe not necessarily saying what you’re no longer doing, but what you’re now doing or what you’re moving towards.
Post that. Share it. Make a Facebook post. Hop on a call with friends and family. Practice. You know, when you’re driving home and you’re calling your best friend on your way home from work, tell her, tell her that this is what you’re, what you’re doing and how you would like to be reintroduced. So I hope this message finds you with so much grace and love to know that it is time for a reintroduction.
2025 is a year for us to no longer be playing small. It’s a year for us to go after those wild and crazy dreams and then just amplify that by a hundred, right? Please, please, please. When reviews are shared, it allows me to continue teaching, pouring my heart into you. It definitely gets all the attention of future guests. Um, that would be able to get on the show as well. And I’d love to hear from you as well. So if you are interested in pitching yourself to be on the show, let me know, send me a DM, send me an email, text me if you have my number.
I am always, always cheering for you. And if we are friends, if we’re real life friends, and which I hope we are, I want you to send me a DM and share with me your new reintroduction. What are you going to be known for in 2025? All right, baby. I can’t wait to hear those. Keep on dancing, baby. I’m cheering for you, and I love you.
