Welcome to the blog, sort of like a digital garden where dreams are planted and grow wild! My name is Quianna and my family calls me “Qui” like key! I’m a traveling photographer based in Scottsdale and the Bay Area.
I love adventures and creating memories even more than I love photographing them—and I LOVE taking photos! In addition to capturing weddings, family milestones, and the best memories I also offer business tools, motivation and inspiration to help creatives turn their passions into their profession. We only get this one life, why not live our days doing what we love?
How To Prepare For Your Branding and Content Shoot
HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR CONTENT AND BRANDING SHOOT
STEP ONE: PLAN
List out your services, offers and every product you’re selling! Are you selling results? Physical products? Digital products, ebooks or online courses? Take some time to list everything so we can start brainstorming the BEST imagery to create! As our businesses grow and stretch, sometimes we have shifts and pivots that need updates! Taking the time to brainstorm now will help spark even more ideas for your shoot!
STEP TWO: LOCATION IDEAS
Some shoots will have a determined location for mini shoots, but even those have some flexibility based on your needs. If you have the time, scope out the location earlier to hand select a few favorite murals or backdrops that express your brand.
If you have a Crush Your Content (mack daddy shoot) booked we can be more flexible with your locations! This shoot includes two (pretty close) locations to maximize our time! Start at your home for personal branding and then take off to the desert (Arizona) or the beach (California) or anywhere that just screams your brand! Consider locations that you visit often or that you would like to work at! Let the manifesting begin!
Here’s a list of popular locations to consider:
Coffee Shops
Fitness Gyms (if you have permission)
Downtown Vibes
Hiking Trails
The Library
Your Home Office
Stylish Airbnbs or Local Studios for Rent
Your Business – If you have a brick and mortar location
STEP THREE: PLAN OUTFITS
Start this process way earlier than you think! Basically as soon as you schedule your shoot plan a shopping trip or start ordering clothes from your couch! You’ll want to have options that fit well and make you feel confident! Plus, if you’re planning updates often, it’s always nice to have new options.
KEY TIPS:
Consider Rent the Runway or Stitch Fix for cute outfits!
Mix it up! Your content photos don’t have to feel professional and stuffy if that’s not your style! If you NEVER wear high heels, don’t wear them for your shoot!
Grab lots of options! I’m all about maximizing our time! Think of the outfits you wear throughout the week. Something you wear for gigs or on the job, around the house and doing what you love!
PACKING LIST | EXAMPLE
Here’s a quick list of something I would wear for myself for a content shoot:
Black Dress | Shooting Weddings
Jeans + Cute Top | Coffee Dates + On The Go
Summer Dress | Casual Dates + Events
Leggings + Sweater | Working From Home
Leggings + Workout Top | My Walking + Hiking Vibes
STEP FOUR: GRAB PROPS
Don’t forget to include props and gadgets that express your personality! If your dog is often at your feet when you work, include your pup in your shoot! Not a fan of coffee but love to sip diet coke out of a coffee cup? Grab some cans of your favorite drink to include, too! Start brainstorming things outside of your services that you use daily to share! Books, laptops, notebooks, favorite pen, products, anything you use daily for your job!
STEP FIVE: THE WEEK OF YOUR SHOOT
Start laying out your outfits and jot down a shot list that you would like covered. I love scrolling Pinterest for ideas and inspiration! Just remember that Pinterst is great to spark ideas, we’ll be creating our own unique images.
Drink plenty of water and eat well! You’ll want to feel well nourished and get your skin glowing!
Book your manicure and pedicure appointments. Totally NOT needed, but if it helps you feel polished, do it!
Confirm hair and make up styling if you’re planning on it! Feeling a bit glamorous for your shoot goes a long way. Some clients book only hair or only make up or a combination of both! Many just do their styling themselves, whatever is best for you!
Don’t forget to try on your looks to ensure everything fits well and you FEEL confident in your outfits.
Remember: We’re going to have a blast!!!!! The more we feel prepared and not scrambling before a shoot the better you’ll feel and you’ll LOVE your photos so much more!
You can expect to hear back from me within 24 hours on weekdays! Weekends are reserved for shooting weddings, but I'll be back in a jif to reply to your message!
