If you’re in a slump of going to the same three restaurants over and over again and feel the urge to try something new… with not very much to spend, then these date ideas are for YOU!
1. Mystery Dinner
Drive 10-20 miles to a small town outside of your city to walk around downtown. Let this be a quick mid-week mini vacation! Just walk up and down Main St. (or the heart of town) looking at menus and pick the best, most affordable restaurant.
2. Coffee Date
Grab a warm drink and just sit and talk about your day.
3. Stargazing
Pick up a six pack of beer, grab blankets and socks for your cold feet and drive up to the nearest hills. Just the two of you under the stars.
4. Relax + Splash
Don’t have a pool? Most community pools charge $3-$6 for day passes or even try snagging a chaise lounge at your nicest local hotel! Hello, summer vibes!
5. Scrapbook
Print out random photos from your adventures, find lost concert tickets, and paste cute love notes in a photo album. Not too crafty? Try CHATBOOKSÂ to easily print your instagram photos and voila, instant mini photo album!
6. Model Home Hunt
Bored on a hot day? Check out local model homes in your area and walk around playing Chip and Joanna Gaines… getting decor inspiration and giggling about what you would do differently with the floor plan! I actually have a whole blog about my adventures with Ma and a link to help you find local model homes, here!
7. Zoo
YES! Plan a day date at the zoo and pretend you are on an african safari by zooming in on the animals! You may have already done this during the first couple of months of dating… go again! Explore another zoo and just walk around.
8. Garden
Take a trip to Home Depot and start a salsa garden! If you’re not much of a green thumb, succulents are super hardy and won’t die on you so fast!
9. Sunrise or Sunset Swooning
If you’re an early riser or night owl, carve some time in the AM or PM to just sit side by side and enjoy the beginning or end of your day. It’s the little things.
10. Paint Together
Plan your own paint night on your kitchen table with wine and paint! Pick up cheap canvases at Hobby Lobby or one large one to just throw paint on to get all abstract! It’ll be fun to see what you create and how differently they will look!
11. HikeÂ
Pack snacks and lots of water and explore a new trail. There’s something about getting sweaty together that brings you even closer.
12. Date Swap
Spend a full day together… the first half your idea and second half your date’s idea! You could start the morning with yoga and end the day go kart racing… Maybe farmers market in the morning and paint balling in the afternoon!? It’s a WIN-WIN for both!
13. Map It Out
Have you and your love done a lot of traveling together? Grab a world map or USA map and either pin or dot the places you have been together! This would be fun to see your adventures and even a nice way to hint that it’s time to buy plane tickets again!
14. Try a NEW Recipe
Dust off an old recipe book or pick a favorite pinterest pin and make something together. This includes going to the store, picking out the ingredients, dancing in the kitchen and trying not to burn anything!
15. Photo Walk
Okay, yes I may be biased, but I promise this will be FUN! Grab your camera, a Polaroid, or even your phone will work and go out on an adventure! Photograph the little things, anything that captures your eye and have fun pretending to model for each other. After all, we photograph what we love most, right?
16. Â Outdoor Concert
During the summer is the best time to find local concert series! Check The Metro or local newspapers for upcoming events. They’re usually free and it’s fun to get out and enjoy a hot summer night.
17. Play Ball
When’s the last time your old high school glove has seen day light? I’m sure your old basketball can use some air! Grab some old gear and get to your closest park to play catch, pass a soccer ball around or shoot some hoops! It’s such a fun workout and costs nothing!
18. Rodeo
Tis’ the season for rodeos and fairs! Get outside, enjoy a cold beer and yeehaw!
19. Recreate Your First Date
Try to plan ahead and surprise your love with the exact table you sat at and order the same dishes. It will be fun to reminisce and laugh about much things have changed.
20. Be Unplugged.
Pick a weekend day to turn your wifi off and put your phones away! Spend your day reading, napping, doing chores and simply being together without your phones in your hands!
21. Â Enjoy a Romantic Bubble BathÂ
Bleach out and deep clean your tub so it’s nice and ready for a relaxing bubble bath. Light some candles and enjoy some time under the bubbles.
22. Play Pool at a Dive Bar
Buy a beer or two and sip while you play pool and let the old pool shark come out! It’ll be fun to flirt again.
23. Bonfire + S’mores
Either at the beach or in your backyard! Plan a nice night in just cuddling by the fire.
24. Wine Tasting or Brew Browsing
You’ll be surprised how many local wineries offer FREE tastings! Scope them out and enjoy a nice day out in wine country.
25. Breakfast in Bed
With our busy schedules I know how tough it can be to plan a WHOLE day date… sometimes just waking up to share coffee, bacon and eggs in bed does the body and soul good! (Of course, I saved my best for last!)
Hope you take notes and surprise your love with these affordable and fun date options often! Oh, and don’t forget that although many of these date ideas would be FUN with your family and best friends, I encourage you to date your best friend, even after you two have been married for years!

Fun ideas!
Fabulous ideas! As a mom of 4 and a busy schedule we don’t have time or resources to plan elaborate dates so it’s great to have a list of them ready to go! I’ll be saving this post for reference!
I loved this! It’s so easy to fall into a routine and forget about date night. I will definitely be using some of these ideas!
This is so fun! I love the idea of scrapbooking together – my boyfriend and I have never done that but maybe now we will! 😉
