Hey, beautiful. Welcome back to Quianna Marie Weekly. I’m Quianna, your business bestie hype girl and brandy photographer who’s obsessed with helping you shine online with strategy, storytelling, and a whole lot of behind the scenes magic. Today we’re talking about something that’s holding way too many business owners back.
And it’s hiding. Yep. Hiding behind Canva Graphics, stock photos, random trends, B-roll clips with cluttered text, anything but your actual face. And I get it. It feels scary. You are thinking, “Who wants to see me?” Or “Ugh, I need to wash my hair and lose 10 pounds before I get in front of the camera.”
But here’s the truth. Your future clients are craving connection with you, not just a cute logo or only seeing your clients. They wanna get to know the real you. So today we’re diving into why showing your face matters, how it builds trust, and a simple framework you can use to start showing up on video with your brand photos and really fun videos consistently.
I’ll quickly explain why these FaceTiming videos are gaining traction right now with some strategies and prompts to make. These talking head videos feel so much easier. There may be a little cringe involved, but I promise once you get the hang of it, it’ll get easier and you’ll find a groove.

Today’s episode is sponsored by The Greenhouse, the resource garden for photographers and entrepreneurs as your photographer, intuitive content coach, and small business cheerleader.
The shop is packed with templates, downloads, business education, mini courses, and freebies. Lots of freebies and gifts and goodies in there to help your business grow through every season. Make sure to check out Keana marie.com/shop for all the details. Let’s get started with why FaceTiming content and showing your face really matters.
Trust skyrockets when clients see your face consistently. All of my mentors podcast hosts that I listen to daily and business besties are buzzing about this current trust recession online. Everyone’s skeptical. Everyone’s cautious with their money, and the fastest way to cut through that and build that trust is to show them you.
Think about it. Would you hire a coach you’ve never seen? Would you buy skincare from a faceless account? Would you invest thousands of dollars with someone you can’t even picture in your head? Nope. People buy from people, and more importantly, people buy from people they feel like they know. Showing your face online can be scary.
Hearing your own voice probably gives you the ick. It’s like that for most of us. So if you feel that way, I promise you’re not alone. But what’s scarier? Stepping up and showing up online, advocating for your business, and literally answering the prayers of your future clients or letting people who know less but are fearless to market themselves, compete for your clients.
Now I have a pretty solid mindset around what’s meant for me will find me, and that there are clients, budgets, coaches, products, and businesses for everyone. I mean that I always lead with an abundance mindset, so very rarely ever will I speak about competition. I don’t see competition. But I do advocate right alongside Natalie Frank, that’s champion the phrase, community over competition.
I feel that, and I live that to my core, but nothing, nothing makes me more upset than when I have peers, students, and business besties that are clearly meant for more and are overqualified to lose business to others simply because of their fear of being seen and showing up authentically online. Here’s the danger.
If you don’t show up, your competitors will, and the difference between you and them, they look like a friend. Well, you look like an anonymous account, like someone they’ve never seen before. So let’s make that stop now.
Stop shrinking. Stop playing small. So many business owners, especially photographers, creatives, healers, and coaches, are hiding behind pretty graphics, Canva, carousels, stock photos, and maybe a random quote here and there.
That stuff has its place. I love those things. I re-share them. Those get a lot of re-shares, but if your clients don’t see your face, they don’t trust the brand behind it. So for example, I love a good story. I had a client who once literally doubled her inquiries after she swapped her stock photos for branded portraits.
Nothing else changed. She just started showing up. She’s a Botox girly and traded her all-nighters in the hospital for working with the Pilates and matcha mamas during school hours while her kids were in class, she was stuck in a rut posting all of the studies, scientific research, wordy Canva, graphics, and all of the syringes used with safe practices.
Now, those are important, so I, I do wanna share that, but she was having a hard time attracting those Scottsdale moms that love to spend money. Once we booked a branding session, she opted for a quick power hour in her office. Her inquiries doubled, like literally it seemed like overnight. They just went through the roof.
People were in her dms, people were emailing her, referrals were coming in. They were even people. She sent me acute texts and said that some of her clients were bringing in friends to their appointments and they weren’t just like. Emotional support buddies like they were in there hoping they could squeeze in an appointment while they were there, right?
Like they wanted to get the information and they wanted to book her on the spot. They were sneaking into appointments. So how do we do this? We brought in a client as a subject for her. We micd up the procedure so her future clients could see what to expect. We did a POV, which is a point of view of the client, so the girlies knew where to park and how to enter the building.
We captured a ton of the details, but added a ton of her face talking head videos, explaining what she does and her services clients were building trust and making decisions and booking without even talking to her. This is the beauty of a power hour. We gotta see your face and we need to hear your voice.
Okay, so now that you know why it’s important, I’m sure I’m not the first person to explain why. Let’s break down a quick formula to help you sit in front of your phone, hit record and start talking. Actually, I wanna break that down even more. You are not just talking, you are selling, you’re educating, sharing stories, ranting, building trust, and welcoming your clients into your thought bubbles, giving them a chance to either love your personality or keep scrolling.
We wanna make them decide right either way. I know it can be scary and feel dumb. Trust me, I know I have to call out that big elephant in the room, like it’s gonna feel cringe. You’re gonna feel annoying, you’re gonna feel stupid. You’re gonna wanna start talking on your phone and then put your phone down if you see someone walking near the parking lot, right?
The best part about this formula and content strategy is that it’s free. Nothing’s free. Of course, we gotta pay our phone bills and it does take our most precious expense, and that’s our time. But for the matter of this conversation, for you to pick up your phone right now, this second and hit record to post on social media, it’s free baby.
We’re living in a society where we have access to millions, literally millions of people, and millions of dollars. I wanted to add that in there like we’ve never had before. Let’s tap into those unlimited opportunities. And I’m here with a cute little framework to help us remember and stay on track.
’cause I love a good game plan and I think sometimes it can feel like creative writing. I don’t know if you remember that in like freshman English, right? Where your teacher had Ms. Cleese and I loved her and. And she would do creative writing, and I, I love to write, but anytime I just had an open notebook, I would freeze.
And I think that’s exactly what’s happening when we put our phone on selfie mode and we just stare at ourselves and we’re adjusting our frizzy hair and maybe, you know, adding some chapstick because our lips are chapped and I hate those little s flaky things on my lips. Right. If that sounds like you.
You are welcome, like let’s create a framework so it makes it easy and a good little game plan for us. Okay, so let’s break down this acronym. I call this the face framework, literally FACE. And we’re gonna break down these little like step points. And then I love giving an example. So the example we’re going with as I break down this framework is a online coach and she specializes in money, mindset and some healing.
Okay. So let’s break down this acronym. Face F. This is your first impression. This is the first line. This is the hook. Okay? Say something that hits your audience right in the gut. So as soon as you hit record, boom, what is that statement? Right? So a couple examples for this money mindset niche is money doesn’t respond to stress, it responds to safety.
Interesting. Right? Like, okay, what does that mean? I wanna learn more. Another example is your bank account will never grow if you’re still repeating your parents’ money stories. Ooh, okay. That’s juicy. That feels relatable. I wanna hear more. Your body isn’t broken. It’s begging you to slow down and listen.
Ooh, okay. So same thing, right? Like, we may be having these thoughts, but tell me more like I am, I’m hooked. Right? So literally that first F or the face framework is first impression, your first line, your hook. What is it that’s gonna slow people scroll and go, huh? What the heck did she just say? The next letter is a.
Anchor with a story, share a quick story that proves your point. It could be a personal story. It could be a story from a client or like recent client experience moment, whatever that is. But we wanna anchor in a story. So for example, for the money mindset, girly, when I stopped avoiding my credit card balance and actually looked at the numbers, I realized I wasn’t nearly as broke as I thought.
That mindset shift gave me the confidence to launch my first program. Another idea for an anchor story is one of my clients kept undercharging because she thought no one would pay her worth. After we reframed her beliefs, she doubled her prices and filled her program. Okay. Cool. All right. I’m interested in this story.
I wanna hear more once again. And then another phrase is, I used to believe rest was lazy. Until I hit burnout so hard, I couldn’t even get outta bed. Now I teach my clients that rest is strategy. Like even just hearing that even though I’m not in the money mindset niche, like that feels like a breath of fresh air.
I’m hooked. I’m sat, I wanna hear what’s next. Right? So we have the F in the A. The C for the face framework is connect with your audience. You wanna speak like your FaceTiming, your bestie, right? Use you like literally the word you and pull them into the vision. Pull them into the story as if you are just having a one-on-one conversation with them, right?
I’m trying really hard to even remove the phrase, Hey guys, or Hey friends, like, I want to just avoid that like the plague for me personally, and I just wanna start. So for example, first C, connect with your audience. If you’re still telling yourself that making money has to feel hard, no wonder you’re exhausted every launch.
Woo. Okay, that one hit hard. Another idea. Think about the last time you truly felt abundant. It wasn’t the number in your account, it was about the freedom to buy groceries without panic. So this hits home for me. I have definitely been in that position when I have gone to the grocery store line and I’ve had to check my bank account.
Like I’m literally strolling through the grocery aisle or strolling to pick up broccoli and checking my account to make sure I have well enough for this checkout, right? So if that is resonating with you or resonating with your audience, like that is a connection point to the fullest. Okay. Another phrase, what if healing wasn’t about fixing yourself, but finally remembering you were never broken.
These are so beautiful, right? Like, but these are once again, making those connections with your audience. And then e, ’cause we’re gonna keep it simple. We have the whole face formula. We’re gonna end with a call to action, okay? So this is like your final line, your wrap, and this is what the money mindset, girly would say.
Take two minutes to today to look at your bank account with gratitude, not fear that even feels like a breath of fresh air. Another idea, write down one belief about money. You’re ready to release. And the third idea, if this resonates, share this with a friend who needs this reminder too. So here we go.
Once again, you are creating that abundance mindset. You are sharing it. You’re actually giving them an action, telling them what to do. Okay, so I love a good idea too. I know I have a lot of photographers that are listening to the podcast as well, and that is my wheelhouse, right? So I wanna take this framework and speak directly to the photographers that are planning to sell out their fall mini sessions.
Okay? So let’s go through this base framework. So F is that first impression. That’s the hook. Okay? If you’re waiting until October to book family photos, you’ll miss your chance. Right. We’re creating urgency. We’re creating this like, oh, oh, okay. Yeah. I heard family photos. I heard October. Like, let’s get going here.
Another one. Pumpkin spice isn’t the only thing selling out this fall. So are mini sessions creating urgency again, and I love this one. I love this more like emotional Taiwan. Your kids are only this little once. Don’t wait to freeze the season and photos. So we wanna make sure that they are reminding our audience like, Hey, these things are happening.
Your kids are busy. They’re literally growing up right in front of your eyes. Like, let’s make sure that they are photographed. Okay. And then so after you have that first hook and that first impression, anchor the story. So another idea for the family photographer is last year half my clients reached out in November and couldn’t book because I was already full.
That’s why I opened my calendar early so you don’t miss your spot. Oh wow. Yes. I’m sure if you’re a busy mama, you have reached out in November or maybe even the first week of December and thought, oh my goodness, like Christmas is almost here. Uh, we need to get our family photos done, and by that time we may be totally booked out.
Another idea is one mama told me her Christmas cards were stress free for the first time because she booked early and had photos ready to go. Okay, so that is more of a like desired, right? So that’s not quite, not exactly a pain point, but more of a desired feeling. Like, oh gosh, what a. What a breath of fresh air to know that all of this is done.
Like imagine having your photos done early, which brings you to the connect point. Sorry, I’m already ahead of myself. So, C for the face framework is connect with your audience. So for this photographer, imagine having your holiday cards printed before Thanksgiving instead of stressing in December. I love that anytime I get a Christmas card or a holiday card from a family friend and it literally is delivered like on my kitchen counter, like the first or 2nd of December, like the first week of December, I’m like, oh my gosh, this, this mom has it together, right?
Like I am impressed and I just totally dream of being that mom one day. You can paint that picture for your clients today. Right? Another connection point you can share is you’re not just booking photos, you’re locking in memories before your kids grow another inch. That’s another connection point that can definitely, definitely resonate with a lot of moms.
And then another idea is, I get it, life is busy, but if you wait, you’ll scroll Instagram, watching everyone else’s fall photos while wishing you booked yours. Oh yeah. That is definitely something that comparison game is strong. As business owners, we try hard to not fall into that comparison trap, but holy smokes, like it’s a real thing for, I would say like moms that don’t have businesses too, right?
Like they’re just, they’re hustling. They, um, may have maybe have corporate jobs, whatever the case may be, but like. They’re definitely feeling that comparison bug too, and seeing all these other families have the cutest photos. Like that literally kind of like puts a little fear in them, right? Like it kind of like reminds them of that urgency, like, don’t let this be you.
And then e end with a call to action. Let’s keep this phrase going. Spots are filling quickly. DM me today to grab yours. Click the link to book your family’s minis before they’re gone. So that’s also creating a little bit of urgency there too. Of course. And then your future self will thank you when your holiday cards are done.
Book now. Giving them that link, giving them that quick call to action. Let’s get on the calendar, send that deposit. Thank you, ma’am. Now here’s how it would flow into practice. Okay? So I love a good practice framework, but here’s literally the face, uh, framework in one quick little blurb. Okay? Your kids are only little.
This once, don’t wait to freeze this season in photos. Last year, half of my clients reached out on November and couldn’t book because I was already full. Imagine having your holiday cards printed before Thanksgiving instead of stressing in December. Spots are filling quickly. DM me to grab yours today.
That’s it. I feel like I went through that whole face framework and it feels so daunting. It feels like a script. It feels like a whole checklist and like a whole essay to to share on like a FaceTime call or a FaceTime video, but that’s it. Like this is literally breaking it down, right with the face.
FACE, you have your first impression. You have your anchor story, you have your connection point, and then of course you have your end it with a call to action. That’s it. Now that you have that framework in your pocket, I hope it helps with a game plan for your next FaceTiming rant. In true Keanu fashion, you know your girl.
I have a handful of more ideas for you. Setting up a tripod, creating a script can be helpful. But for me, my best ideas come from motion and being in the zone. The problem is, is that when I spark these ideas, I don’t always have the time, or it’s not always appropriate to rant on my cell phone, right? Like I’m in the middle of a photo shoot, I’m in the middle of a shower, I’m in the middle of the grocery store driving home, and, and even if I just record and post it later, the timing is just tough, right?
It’s just, it’s not the best timing. I love to create checkpoints in my client experience timeline. These are like having a living frequently asked questions page, or behind the scene moments that I wish I could record for my current and future clients. Let’s rattle off some ideas to help spark these rants.
Giving your hands something to do. This not only boosts engagement because adults today are literally iPad kids that have very limited attention spans, so doing something with your hands will help them stay tuned. If you’re a photographer sharing a nightmare parking story or an emergency location change because there was a fundraiser or a marathon going on at that park, and they wouldn’t let you park for your portrait session, share that.
So like share the story. Share the, oh my goodness, I was here for a portrait session. It may even be like a chaotic mini session day. Imagine showing up, thinking Ladi, do everything’s fine. You’re there 30 minutes early before your first, you know, family arrives and you can’t park where you were planning to park.
And you either have one family showing up at a at a specific time, or maybe you have four or five families that are planning to meet you there. Panic sets in, right? So this is not something I would suggest doing a FaceTime like real lifetime in the moment. But those are stories that happen, right? Like it’s happened to photographers.
It’s definitely happened to me before, but I challenge you to share that story and definitely give yourself something to do next time, right? So maybe you can share that panic and that quick emergency and how you resolve that problem. By going through your bag, checking your batteries, clearing your cards, editing, right?
I mean like anything that your hands can stay busy, but you’re explaining this like catastrophe that you were able to troubleshoot on a photo shoot day. If you’re a realtor, tell us a time when your gut was telling you that you weren’t alone in the house, and you asked your husband to swing by your open house for a walkthrough.
Share that while you’re prepping your kids’ lunches. Okay, so I love a good juxtaposition. Like I love when things like collide and don’t quite make sense, right? So like imagine you are literally cutting up carrots or you’re smearing peanut butter and jelly sandwiches together, but you’re sharing the story.
About feeling unsafe in an open house. Okay. Like I’m hooked, like I’m sad. I want to see what’s going on. And I’m curious if one kid gets like the crust cut off their sandwich and one doesn’t. Right. Like whatever. Like just giving us something to watch while we’re hearing this story, especially when it doesn’t correlate exactly to the story, I think is so fascinating.
If you’re an online coach sharing about money mindset, tell us about a time that you were stuck at the airport due to bad weather and needed to use your sister’s miles to get you home on another flight. Share that while waiting in line for your iced coffee order. Even pausing to chat with the barista, right?
So like, imagine you’re in line, you’re ready to make your order, or you’re ready to grab your drink or to pay for your, your drink. I think it’s so cute when I get to see the interaction, right? So like hearing the content creator talk to the barista. I may not even see the barista. I may hear their voice, I may hear their, a little bit of their banter, but just being able to see them in those moments.
Oh, I love it. Share the real raw and all those little genuine moments that make you, you. We wanna see that. Pairing these rants stories and connection points can feel like FaceTiming your best friend. I’ve said this already in the episode. I wanna repeat it. Literally talk to us like you’re talking to your best friend.
Think about the stories that you’re so excited to share with your bestie on the ride home, or the funny stories or crazy emergencies that you can’t wait to go home and tell your partner or tell your dog all about them. Fate loves listening to my stories. Oh my gosh. Her little face is the cutest. Her and Skye are two German shepherds sit on our bed while I get ready in the morning and I tell them all about my day.
I tell them everything. They’re captivated audience, but I swear they understand me and I just, I love their little faces. For the next 30 days, I am challenging myself to create these FaceTime content ideas and would love for you to try to, I wanna get to know you the real you. Take this framework, add in your own niche, and definitely get recording babe.
I want to see them. Don’t forget to tag me because you know I’ll be resharing. Okay? So this isn’t about being trendy or perfect. It’s about showing your purpose, your passion, and letting your dream clients see who they’re trusting their time and money with. Even if you feel awkward, even if you feel like your hair isn’t perfect, the truth is your future clients don’t care about that.
They care about your energy. They care about whether you feel approachable and trustworthy, and they can’t see that in a stock photo or hiding behind Canva Graphics. I created a quick download for you to reference head over to the show notes to grab the FaceTiming framework. It’s totally free. And just a quick guide to share exactly what we chatted about today.
Plug and play with those stories, rants, educational tidbits, and most importantly, hit record to share your value, share your heart, and share your expertise. Make us laugh. Make us get emotional with happy tears. I wanna see it all. Okay, my love. Consider this your tough love nudge. Stop hiding. Show your face.
Record the video. Post the photo. Let your audience get to know the amazing, passionate, talented human behind the business. If you’re ready to stop stressing about what to post, my BH B-roll mini course will give you the tools to create endless content with the photos and videos you already have. And if you’re local, let’s get your brand shoot on the calendar so you’re not scrambling when it’s time to launch or sell out your next offer.
Your clients are waiting to meet you. Literally don’t let them wait any longer. You’re making an impact, solving problems and providing services that people want and need. They’re Googling your offers, daily posting in Facebook groups, looking for photographers, healers, coaches, and your services all day long.
Having professional photos, binge-worthy content that shares your value and videos of your voice, expressions, and personality to build trust will only help those dream clients find you faster. I wanna leave you with three affirmations for visibility and confidence. Oh, I love these affirmations and I like, I need to print these out and put these on my mirror.
Okay, so let’s go over these three. As I leave you with this week, my face builds trust. I am safe, seen, and worthy of being recogniz. My dream clients are looking for me and every time I show up, I make it easier for them to find me. I don’t need to be perfect to be powerful. My energy, my story, and my face are enough to attract aligned opportunities.
Alright, my friend, I’ll see you next week on Kiana Marie weekly.
