“I feel like I already know you even though we’ve never met!” Has that ever happened to you? Has a complete stranger walked up to you at an event or while you were working and told you, oh my gosh, I feel like I already know you, or, wow, isn’t it so crazy to hear your voice in real life? Imagine having content in an online presence on lock, so perfectly curated.
Not the perfect version of you online, but perfectly aligned with your energy and personality that actually introduces the real you to potential clients and customers before they even meet you in real life. How do we build trust online when everyone is pinching their pennies and clenching their wallets these days?
Back in the day, trust was built through word of mouth. A friend or family member would recommend a business or service to us, and we would trust them because they saw firsthand by working with them that they were the best choice. They work with them and can vouch for their experience. Price. Point aside, I know budgets do matter, but if a friend highly recommends a restaurant, a mechanic, or a roofer, simply because they were trustworthy, honest, did good work and come highly recommended, of course we would invest with them.
We would choose to work with them. We only got that referral if we asked for it though. If we wanted any recommendations from friends and family, we would have to call them, literally pick up the phone, call them, send them a text, bring it up at the next family birthday or on the sidelines of our kids’ games.
If the people we love and trust the most don’t have a recommendation, then we would turn to Pinterest, Google local Facebook, and neighborhood groups to ask for referrals. This is where social media and online searches can turn to gold for us. We can’t let the client experience moments, transformations, and connections we have in real life with our business sizzle out after our galleries are delivered and transactions are complete.

Before we get right to the tips and strategies I need to get this off my chest. Praying and hoping your clients, friends and family share about your business is not a marketing plan.
Okay? I wanna take a deep breath and I wanna say that again and we have to repeat this. Praying and hoping your clients, friends and family share about your business is not a marketing plan. We need to market our business. It’s up to us to generate shareable, relatable, and trustworthy content. Keeping up with trends and chasing algorithms can be exhausting.
I’m not here to influence you to spend more time on your phone. In fact, it’s the complete opposite. As your big sister business bestie and intuitive content coach, I’m here to help you and equip you with the tools and mindset shifts to see content and marketing opportunities differently. You’re already doing the work.
We don’t need to become full-time social media content creators in addition to the many hats we wear. This is why I’m obsessed with bts. The behind the scenes moments in B-roll clips that document the hard work you’re already doing. B-roll helps prove your value, introduce yourself, build trust, and helps your future clients.
Imagine working with you. Did I mention you’re already doing all the things you’re passionate about your business, you adore your clients. You go above and beyond with the serving heart. We just need to hit that little record button and capture your magic. When future clients and customers can see themselves working with you, you’re building curiosity.
When they see you doing the work, they create expectations of what it can look like to invest in you. Imagine a chef that isn’t just sharing videos or photos of her chopping carrots. Those can be good for reels. I want, I wanna make a note of that, that those are, those are good too. But imagine her in the garden explaining which fruits and vegetables are in season right now, or how to know when those carrot roots are ready to be yanked up.
Think about how powerful a realtor can look when he’s not just sharing photos of recently sold homes, but he is giving a family a home tour and capturing those kids running upstairs to pick their new rooms, or a dad flipping burgers in their new backyard for their first hangout. Those visuals, that’s powerful.
What about a photographer that’s hugging the bride and groom goodbye on their wedding night? You can feel the joy, the appreciation, and the love with those tipsy sweaty goodbyes. You can hear the, oh my gosh. Thank you. We love you, your amazing moments and big bear hugs shared those video clips and sentimental moments are way more powerful than simply sharing our best magazine cover worthy photographs.
We still gotta share those and showcase our best work. Imagine also sharing those impactful behind the scenes moments for even more eyes on the internet to see them during those dance floor goodbyes. Close family and friends, and the couple, like the aunties that are watching grandparents made of honor and even other vendors may catch a glimpse of those sweet goodbye hugs like they’re actually seeing them in real life, right?
They’re on the dance floor or saying goodbye. They see this magic and this appreciation happening right in front of them. Those right there are significant testimonials. Now imagine those B-roll clips. Share as evergreen content on your website, Pinterest boards and social media. It’s not about putting our lives and our clients’ memories on Blast.
It’s about marketing our business. So it’s built to last. I want your business to grow strong roots to last for generations. Create pivot proof content so your business grows, expands, and scales with you. This is how you build trust. Selecting moments throughout your day to day that feels like your client’s once in the lifetime.
When we share these moments on social media with consent, of course, right? We are asking permission to do that. We’re proving our value, sharing why we’re the only option and staying top of mind for our current past and future clients. You’re literally selling without having to be in promo mode or even feel salesy and like you’re selling all the time.
You’re letting your photos speak for themselves. Let your behind the scene moments speak for you too. Let’s crank out three ways to build trust this week. Number one, go through your entire client experience. Literally write it all out like a checklist or a timeline, visual with checkpoints, and write out all of those touchpoints, deliverables, emails, gif, and every little client experience moment from that first inquiry, email or DM to the final delivery.
Write it all out and start highlighting or putting a star next to the things that you literally have never shared online or even talked about before. Or maybe it has been a really long time and we just need a refresh. If you’re a photographer, do you scout locations for your fall mini sessions? Take us behind the scenes and share what’s going through your mind for selecting the best locations, not just lighting the trees in the background, but parking details nearby, bathrooms, et cetera.
This shows that you’re in demand and already building hype for dropping that link to sign. If you’re a hairstylist and spend time meal prepping to slam food in your face in between clients and your meal prepping looks like cutting up last night’s pizza into bite-sized pieces and some fruit snacks crammed in a Tupperware container.
Because you’re a busy mama, give us a glimpse of your real life moments behind the chair. Maybe you’re a music teacher and one of the parents mentioned that one of your students passed a hard spelling test that they’ve been studying for, and they thank you for boosting their confidence in all aspects of their life.
That’s powerful and absolutely worth sharing. You see how they don’t even really correlate like they do. They’re connected and it’s a piece of your life. It’s a piece of those interactions you have with your clients, but it may not be exactly aligned with your offers or what you’re actually teaching or sharing or selling.
Take the time to ride out and think about all of the things you do while working and delivering your incredible experiences that help take us along for the ride. Okay, so number two, start talking face to camera. You know, like a car confessional while you’re waiting in the school pickup line, holding your camera up and talking while you’re out on a hot girl walk.
Maybe your laptop is up, and while you’re editing and cobbling photos, you’re sharing a quick story. We need to hear your voice and see your face to build trust. Share a quick win from a client. Talk about a time you troubleshooted something or something you’re excited about. It can literally be about Taylor Swift and her life of a showgirl Hot takes like this is all buzzing right now as I’m recording this, but share about it, right?
Meal prepping, asking about vacation tips for your next adventure. These conversations with your face, talking to the camera. Don’t always have to be about your business. Flex that trust muscle by showing up, sharing your heart, sharing your stories, and bringing your audience along for the ride. FaceTime vibes are killing it right now on social media.
I challenge you to try going on stories this week and sharing something you’re excited about. It could be as simple as getting your kids to brush their teeth without a meltdown or booking your dream client. Keep it fun, lighthearted, and relatable. It helps me to have a theme or a series. So think about a rant you can talk about forever and ever and ever, or some sort of journey or transformation going on in your life.
Are you remodeling your bathroom, saving for your next lens or a big business expense? Maybe you are going gluten-free. What do you wanna be known for? If there’s a topic you can talk for hours about, start there. Okay. Number three, share your experiences. Would you trust your high school basketball coach to fly an airplane?
Well, of course not. Not unless you saw photos and videos or certificates or any type of proof that he’s a pilot and he’s actually flown a plane. Right? Like, why would you even think that that was a possibility? Unless you’d seen it in real life. This is how strangers on the internet feel about you too.
How can they trust that you’re worth the investment without seeing you in action, without the proof? Many of my friends and clients are healers, mindset coaches doing breath work and making big transformations in their clients’ lives. But if you’re not documenting and sharing these transformations, this is where the woo woo vibes get a bad rap.
The results they’re providing aren’t landing because they’re not sharing and building trust with those transformations. This is where a little bit of the braggy content comes to play. Are you a nurse turned full-time content creator? Do you have a degree in communications and now you’re making soy candles in your guest bedroom?
Are you a workshop aholic and you love investing in conferences, events, and educational opportunities? Pivot proof your business by proving why you are qualified and worth the investment. I have a background in teaching preschool with tons of patience for kids and young families. This helps me thrive as a portrait photographer.
I know you have pieces of your past like puzzle peace moments that have brought you to where you are today in your business. Those are all the little things that make you magical and perfect for your clients. It can be as simple as sharing the books you’re reading podcasts in your ear, which by the way, hello, that’s such an easy way to share content.
Grab a screenshot of this episode and share it while you’re on your hot girl walk or getting your work done. Share any takeaways and make sure to tag me too. I’m literally doing a happy dance anytime someone tags the, the podcast. I’m just so, so grateful and I will absolutely reshare it and share you one.
I mentioned earlier about sharing referrals with your family and friends. People love to buy from you when they know you, and if they don’t know you. Someone they know knows you. You already have an in right sharing B-roll, and behind the scenes moments helps others feel like they know you. Do they really?
No. You’re building a personal brand. I only share a sliver of my life online. I still keep a lot of my life private and sacred. But the thing is, I do share. I share a ton about it. Remember, you’re not creating extra work. You’re capturing what’s already happening. Okay. Let’s do a quick recap on these three tips.
I really wanna hit home with these key tips. Okay. Number one, go through that client experience timeline. Pull out things that you may have not mentioned before, or it’s been a while, dust ’em off and reshare them. If you’re a photographer hoping to sell more wedding albums, when’s the last time you’ve actually went through the process and shared what it looks like?
Or what’s going on in your mind when you are taking photos thinking, oh, this is definitely an album shot, right? Like actually saying this to the couple on their wedding day, oh my gosh, this is gonna be a full spread in the wedding album. You’re literally planting seeds and reminding them. That that’s something they get to look forward to, right?
Okay. So go through that timeline and make those checkpoints. Number two, it’s time to start FaceTiming your social media. I wanna see your face. I wanna hear your voice. I wanna see the passion in your eyes that twinkle in your eyes. Prove your value. Share your passions. Go on a rant. Like it doesn’t have to be negative, it doesn’t have to be controversial.
It could literally be something random, but I wanna see it. I wanna see that for you. And number three, share your experiences. Prove your value. Share those credentials, even if it has nothing to do with your business per se, but it absolutely does because it’s dealing with the public, it’s dealing with customers, it’s sharing that you have some type of expertise that actually aligns perfectly so random, but aligns perfectly with your business.
Let’s say it babe, like we need to prove it. Right? Okay, so those are those three tips. I really, really hope that you take action on those this week. Especially now, right now, before the fall season hits us like a whirlwind and we’re slammed with work busy school and sports schedules and the rush of the holidays now.
Now is the time to start these challenges. Get comfortable showing up, not just blasting your life online, but sharing with intention. Market your business, like your dream. Clients are praying to find you because they are. They are looking for you. They’re searching for you. They’re asking their friends and family do it.
We have to be top of mind. Get your systems, unlock and create checkpoints that you feel comfortable sharing and make it a routine. Just like you recharge your batteries and make sure you’re grabbing your B-roll. Don’t forget to grab that free guide and check out Bloom With B-Roll the mini course for business owners that helps you prove your value and sell your offers simply being yourself.
Before we wrap up, I wanna leave you with a handful of affirmations for the week. Just wanna take a little deep breath here. My authenticity is my best marketing strategy. The moments I’m already living are enough to market my business. I don’t have to perform. I simply have to press record. Hmm. I love those.
I need to write them down and put ’em on a sticky note and stick them to my mirror. I am so grateful for you and I appreciate sharing this conversation with you. If you enjoy this episode and a light bulb moment popped off for you, please, please share with a friend or two. Send it over to anyone that’s building a business, needs more eyeballs on their offers, and is ready to scale.
I am cheering for you. Always keep on dancing and hit that record button. Don’t forget to tag me in all of your BTS stories and reels too. I wanna see them and celebrate with you and share them. I will literally re-share them. Hope you have a productive and profitable week. Okay, love you. Bye. That’s a wrap on another episode of Quianna Marie Weekly.
