It’s the most wonderful time of the year. If you’re a photographer or business owner, it can also feel like the most busiest time of the year, you probably feel like a melting snowman in Arizona, cranking out galleries blasting out albums, sending last minute holiday cards for your family, ordering gifts online, hoping and praying they ship in time, and also trying to juggle family during the holidays. Maybe you’re making ravioli, tamales or baking cookies. We all have a ton going on this year. And here I am over here encouraging you to add even more work to your plate before the end of the year.

Also if you’re anything like me, always thinking ahead and onto the next milestone or project. It can feel braggy or unsettling to pause and celebrate. I’m the queen of making a big deal of everything and celebrating everyone else. But why is it so artists celebrate myself?

When I mentioned these posts, I want to be clear that you can share these content ideas across the board on literally every platform. On Instagram alone, you can take that one video or content idea and publish it to create a real a story highlights a carousel post or even if you’re feeling really brave and sassy, go live. Same thing for Facebook. I encourage you to post on your business page, then share your personal you can create stories post and publish short videos too.
Not to mention blogging about it, which honestly is my favorite thing really, really great for SEO, directing Pinterest pins to your blog website, creating opt ins for your email newsletter, trading fun videos for YouTube. Don’t forget to post about LinkedIn is pretty hot, tick tock and all forms of social media call me crazy. But when’s the last time you use Snapchat to promote your business? You see how it can be endless here.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, let’s just start with one platform and one type of content piece to dive into then you can get creative with sharing it as often as you can. It will be easier to sprinkle your magic like confetti online if you have just one concept or idea to share. Let’s start there. All right, y’all know I’m a big fan of bliss. So I have whipped up five different content generating ideas to help your business shine online. Let’s start with number one a year in review.
These are easy wrap up posts to showcase your wins for your business. List out your biggest accomplishments featured post awards, educational opportunities, conferences, workshops, courses, or any certifications you’ve earned. Create a fun wrap up posts highlighting your best of the moments of the year. This is a great time to tally up your calendar to, for example, share the numbers. I love numbers. But maybe you can share the number of weddings elopements family portraits, mini sessions miles driven. How many coffees have you had?
And maybe you can make it cute like how many lukewarm coffees have I drink this year? Or how many times that I find myself through the drive thru at insert your favorite coffee shop? How many meltdowns Do you have? I don’t want to poke fun at this or take this lightly. But it is a great way for you to share that relatability and reminder that you’re human. How many hard drives?
Have you gone through how many flights have you been on number of cities you’ve visited, for example? And we can even get really specific and silly and share how many boxes of Oreos Have you consumed or how many ice cream courts have you eaten this year? Right? It’s so fun to see your adventures and a quick snapshot. If you had just one ounce of doubt that your year wasn’t as successful as you hoped. This roundup will help you celebrate your hard work.
We’ve all done way more than we think this year. Number two collaboration celebrations. This is a great way to boost cross promotions with other vendors. Think about what was trending for 2022 the Pantone color of the year is very Perry it’s like a lavender purplish color. Did you have any bridesmaids with this color? What was the most Popular bridesmaid dresses, you know, color collaboration, like how many of the same color you saw? Or maybe even just the same style?
Was it trending for short dresses to come back in style? Or long dresses still holding it down? Was there any specific styles that were more popular than others? Most popular wedding gown? Did you have? Let her know maybe it doesn’t have to be a high number. But did you have for brides this year that had the same dress right? I remember I think it was in either 2019 or maybe it was 2021 my besties Regina and I we would send back the same address that we saw over and over again.
I think it even got to like 25 brides whether it was from styled shoots or actual real weddings like it was just so fun to see this trending dress right? post about it. Did you have a handful of grooms that rocked a velvet suit jacket, any color different than black, gray or the those beautiful like dark blue suits, you can easily wrap up a post that shares the venue you photographed the most this year and share a handful of highlights from each wedding at that same venue. This is huge because that then you would be so happy to post think of these year in review posts and collaborations to be eye candy for future fiance’s and recently engaged couples, gold nuggets for wedding vendors. And then of course fun recaps to celebrate our couples.
Y’all know the girls that we have photographed in the past are going to be so stoked to reshare and relive their wedding days, right? Like let’s give them these reasons to celebrate and to keep posting and sharing their day. Number three, list and numbers.
Y’all know I love numbers, I encourage you to write out 22 lessons of 2022 22 favorite moments 22 of your favorite adventures. 22 wins everything from super tiny to the big, big accomplishments, maybe even 22 things you’re leaving behind this year, maybe it’s not 22 for the year. And that’s not your number, or that’s too many things to list without feeling overwhelmed. But maybe you consider 10 things I’m grateful for this year 12 affirmations and bring it into the new year. Maybe you’re getting creative, the creative and you’re writing one affirmation for every month, right like that will be so cute. Five ways. I’m making time for more arrests next year 15 tips for quarterly planning etc.
I also want you to think to like let’s go even deeper and create that content that connects for our future couples, right. So maybe it’s 15 things that I wish I had done right after I got engaged, right, and I’m gonna get into that a little bit sooner too.
But think of those fun things that you can share that your ideal clients are looking for. And you’re just listing out really fun things and great ways for them to come across your work online. Number four, best of the year, this is your time to shine and share a photo from each wedding engagement shoot, HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR or mini session, etc.
Wrap up a reel that showcases every family you shot this year, or even a post about your top nine Instagram post. There’s a great website for this and I’ll link it in the show notes. It’s super easy and fun to see the posts that you got the most engagement on. This also ties into the collaboration post.
But make sure you’re tagging and linking venues and vendors. Don’t be shy with this one and create content that helps you shine online. Think of these posts as your mini commercials, right? Like you’re like, hey, this is the best, the best the best. And also, this is me being the teacher and kind of the big sister in mind. I highly encourage you not to write like, oh, this was the best wedding. Right? Like I’m just thinking like in our minds, right? It’s like, oh, this was the highest budget or oh, this was the most beautiful couple like, I don’t like that type of content. And I’m totally putting my own views and thoughts on you.
So like you can do obviously, as you wish for your business. But I wouldn’t write like, oh, this was the most beautiful bouquet or this was the most beautiful wedding party stuff like that. I would instead write these are the most beautiful bouquets. And then you’re including a bouquet from each of the weddings you shot, right because we never want our past couples to feel left out, feel not enough or feel like hey, like I thought my wedding location was beautiful.
I guess it didn’t make the list and it just kind of feels off, right. So just consider that as you are wrapping up your best of posts. Number five, I’m saving the best for last because it’s absolutely my favorite and it is called the behind the scenes content, sharing a handful of behind the scenes, photos, video clips, and all the magic to help your business shine.
I love a good post that jokes about how life as a photographer or entrepreneur isn’t really as it seems. So you know those ones where people will post Oh, life of the photographer looks like this. But actually we spend most of our time and it’s like doing something else right behind our laptop or people think we get to be on these beautiful adventure shoots all the time. But really, I’m just working from home with my dog most of the day and watering my plants, right. So think of those things that people want to see like the actual behind the scenes. So what you’re really doing sharing tips and tricks and hear them all wins.
So for example, this spring I made it out to Texas to help my friend Courtney Bosworth second shoot a wedding at the Grand ivory venue. It’s so freakin beautiful. In fact, this venue even made it on the Caitlin James Powell access, which is just a dream. It was just so gorgeous to be there and I was getting major inspiration for future wedding venue stuff. Oh my gosh, I was in heaven. So thank you, Courtney, for that opportunity. Okay, so back to this, behind the scenes story about that wedding. During this wedding, the bride didn’t have a ribbon to tie the locket of her grandmother’s picture on her bouquet and everyone was freaking out. The thread in her tiny little like sewing kit was too thin, and we all scrambled to find something that works.
I had a last minute idea to cut the hanger string out of a bridesmaid dress, you know that little like armpit string. under there, it worked perfectly. The string was the perfect size and of course match the bridesmaids dresses. Talk about thinking on the fly and critical thinking. Did anything like that happened this year for you? Something for you to showcase your experience and the ability to troubleshoot fires and the little emergencies on wedding days or for your work.
Did you have any rainy days anything go haywire, but ended up being even better than you imagine? If nothing crazy happened? Or maybe you like you didn’t actually document it? Share about it. Even if you just share a handful of behind the scenes I’m sure your audience recently engaged couples and future fiance’s will be happy to see you working your magic.
I love a good post that highlights the moment in action as well as a final photo. I hope you find these roundup posts to be encouraging and easy to share. Remember, I’m not just coming up with these ideas and sparking these thoughts just to give you more work, or am I Yes, secretly, I’m encouraging you to put just a little bit of time into these roundup posts to attract your dream couples, add value to your business and connect with content. Remember, it’s all about us.
We need to rattle the universe put this these types of content pieces out there so our dream couples can find us. After all, I’m here to support you help you grow deep roots and to celebrate each season of your business.
